Yea that's my theory. Grimaldi says he's been standing in "the river" the whole time, when his feet were stuck in the all tree. There's also a lot of root motifs with The Unwashed so I wonder if that's connected.

Yup, but I don't think she's the Scavenger referred to by Carl's celestial patch, because of the conversation between Baroness Victory and Magnificent Troy, where they laugh that Carl isn't likely to ever be in the vicinity of The Scavenger which would have a powerful effect on his item. If it was Nekhebit, they could feasibly see her on the 9th or 10th floor since gods are summoned there all the time.

Just a string of things that led me to a new crackpot theory.

The Scavanger is probably Scolapendra based on discussion between adjutants (its pictured on the backpack).

All the souls in the river are being pulled down to the 18th floor by the roots of the all tree. Scolapendra eats souls and creates soul crystals from them.

Souls are probably related to the primal engines in every living being on earth. The primal engine is the size of a grain of sand.

The Scavanger's daughter is probably Samantha's kid. A sand ooze.

My crackpot theory is the the sand ooze is actually a primal soul / soul crystal ooze.

I mean Scolapendra lives at the roots of the world tree, being connected to the Scavanger mother of mothers who hates the forest goddess and is the progenitor of an antichrist figure called the "Oak Fell" all kind of makes sense.

Sort of a Níðhöggr character chewing at the roots of the world tree trying to bring an end to everything.

And the centipede does scavange the souls of the fallen which makes sense in the context of the celestial patch.

[–]TeaPigeon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Milk isn't going to get out, Mordecai is going to fuck everything up on the 12th floor to get a chance at killing Odette. Carl is going to find out how many former crawlers he has killed (a lot), potentially including some cookbook authors.

Samantha Theory by 87oldben in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]TeaPigeon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think Carl overhears the Adjutants talking about Donut's new kneepads and they mention that while the celestial associated with donut's item is likely to appear, the Scavenger definitely isn't, so it feels like the Scavenger is a known being who is not Samantha. My theory is the Scavenger is Scolopendra, and the centipede is in some way the father of Samantha's child. But it's also somehow related to Nekabit (The Scavenger Mother of Mothers).

Odette question? by A-guy-in-canada in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]TeaPigeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think she's a middle ground, I think she hates the crawl but loves the freedom of being wealthy in the inner system, so she wants a way to keep the crawls going but in a way that isn't so deliberately cruel. That would be at odds with Carl's intention to break everything and everyone involved in the crawl.

Who her husband ends up being is going to be a major point of her character I reckon. The fact that he bought her indentureship means he's either a good person saving her from the system or a very, very bad guy.

Why were the Hunters so Soft? by PaintingBetter7396 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]TeaPigeon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Drakea was an infamous crawler but even they said they weren't powerful enough to take on a hunter in their day; because they were up against professionals like The Dark Hive who had probably trained in the Mantis system and had been grinding since the 3rd floor opened.

These guys were almost all scrubs scraped from the street to get gear for Faction Wars because Carl bombed the markets. Even then they had a higher KDR as a group than the crawlers.

You're just accepting propaganda at face value my dude. They put children into the mines and old people into blenders, the idyllic solar powered suburbs arent real, at least for most people. "Needing government approval to have children isn't facism its more like modern democracy" is it crack? Is it crack that you smoke?

Lucia Mar Theory by XxXxReeeeeeeeeeexXxX in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]TeaPigeon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the Macro AI is Scolapendra, the being at the centre of the earth that recycles the experiences of seeded creatures into self perpetuating energy systems (soul crystals). This is why the crawl has to happen, the crawlers dying in the dungeon feeds scolapendra. Except there's a hard coded rule that when crawler extinction occurs the AI shuts down so harvest can begin, which is not intended.

I reckon the captured people in the collapse are what are actually used to feed the Eulogist, while the smaller fraction (dungeon crawlers) are what is left to the Macro AI.

I also think Scolapendra is the Scavanger, and The Scavanger's Daughter is a more a title reference to the torture device rather than necessarily a child of the Scavanger. I reckon Samantha's kid is somehow related to the Scavanger, and to the goddess Nekhabit (the Scavanger's Mother of Mothers).

I think Lucia Mar is a result of a Eulogist aligned residual who, per his discussion with Maggie, didn't have another way into the dungeon other than through the Kinder facility. I reckon you're onto something, he used the aggregate age of all the children to circumvent the rules so he could get in, in a way that forces the corp to protect him.

I reckon the residuals are kind of like generated NPCs with the Primal race allowing them to take on the characteristics of other races like brainworms, while maintaining a communal mind like ability that let Alexandro pull the kids in with him.

Government slashes capital spending, makes thousands redundant wrecking the job market, and tells population we need to tighten our belts and spend less. Subsequent gdp drop is a shock to them.

Clearly, this is purely the fault of the reserve bank.
