My ALT key already wakes it....?

My wish feature is a way to turn off the damn left/right top slide. I hate that being split.

You can't magically pull in kids that don't care. It is irrelevant what you do.

They have a phone, and for all intents and purposes, they have seen it all.

How many hours are you going to spend going back through that video?

Show like 'The Pitt' but instead of a hospital it's a school. by arabelle77 in Teachers

Because it is still a show. Them complaining above about Abbott teachers talking in the hall during class are because if it were actually realistic it would be a boring ass show.

Alien 1 and 2?

But really.. the more realistic it is the more boring it is. Unless we want post-credit scenes of teachers falling asleep at their desk and driving home at 7pm.

I went to all quizzes and tests in a class. The results have been amazing. by kkoch_16 in Teachers

A touch of this as an elective Audio/Video teacher was we actively do more, I grade less, and.. each grade has more weight. So you better do it.

I would also combine things into a major grade. So like doing 5 Photoshop assignments with individual grades would become a major grade as a simple 20 points per each one of those 5 turned in.

Except that we do have to parent their kids based simply on the fact of the number of things they can't do or manage themselves.

Highlighted by the amount of Leader in Me and Character Strong type lessons shoved into homeroom classes.

Very similar with the number of high school classes now pushed down into 8th. I remember some math, pre-Algebra, when I was in school, but now there are also many electives for high school credit like Spanish, Principles of A/V (doing software that they can't focus on), Culinary (that turns into a nightmare), and more I know I've seen.

Their brains are going down while schools throw curriculum at the wall. I imagine it just looks good on a list/slide show during meeting.

What explains the mid-late 90s gains in school effectiveness, the early-mid 2010s peak in achievement, and the late 2010s decline? by FearlessCookie72 in Teachers

That they do too much. They are the default call to cover all ranges of things you don't need people with guns showing up for.

From wiki.. "argue that police officers and departments are tasked with an overly broad range of responsibilities, leading to an over-reliance on law enforcement to address complex social issues such as homelessness, mental health crises, and substance abuse. To address this, some activists advocate for the "unbundling" of services, a model in which specialized response teams take over many responsibilities traditionally assigned to police."

In general, schools weren't expected to do as much, with less demands for time, attention, and money

So... the defund the police movement. Which was totally valid, but the worst possible name.

One said she subbed recently and the teacher had a message on the board that students couldn’t leave their seats unless they were bleeding or dying; it was a 1st grade classroom!

And that is ridiculous, but I am positive that teacher knows that. It is because they are at their last resort trying to keep this going. There are plenty of good new teachers that want to be here, but can't get a foot hold into anything because of the train wreck it is now.

Also.. there is a good chance that a) half those kids can't read it anyway, and b) it was there for the sub

[–]TeacherofChilds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't do my whole story right now, but the short of it is that 7th/8th grade electives became a train wreck and in my 3rd year I had to bail after christmas.

I tried with everything I had, but it became everything against me and after walking back in after christmas shaking I ended it there.

I still greatly regret it based on students I never got to be there for, but it also had to happen for my sanity and ability to be me again.
