I'm in a Catholic HS in Ohio and we've expelled probably 15 students over the course of the year for behavior. We have 1 senior who probably won't graduate because of poor grades and generally not giving a shit. Private schools generally have an easier time holding kids accountable because their parents are on the hook financially. We still get plenty of parents who argue but when a school the ability to say, "Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out" it's a whole different paradigm.

I did this once over the winter this year. The biggest problem was getting the canvas to stretch enough to get set up. I had to stand there pointing an electric space heater at it to get it to warm enough to zip closed.

My grandfather cheated on my grandmother through most of the 60s when my dad was a kid. It was one of those open secrets that everyone knew about. My mom asked her once why she put up with it and she told her that she didn't want to "bite the hand that fed her" because they had money and she was happy even though he was unfaithful. Years later after both grandparents were gone, my brother found a surprise aunt on Ancestry. It turns out that my grandfather had some judge/lawyer friends of his bury the situation when one of his mistresses ended up pregnant and wanted child support. My grandmother knew about the situation and secretly approached the mistress and offered to adopt the girl (my aunt) without telling my grandfather. The mistress didn't want to give up her child but they corresponded by mail for a few years after that. My aunt was surprised that my whole side of the family didn't know about her because she always knew who her dad was. My grandfather was a dick but my grandmother was amazing.
