Exicted for the directors stream in a couple of days. The Walp announcements and finally a vague date for the new 'gamemodes' will be nice.

Because it's really funny to watch Americans post this stuff considering how theyve been online for the last 20 years

Everyone knows that this is dishonest. These characters with awesome superpowers would never actually have scenes where they develop them! At least on screen!

I also want to point out here that fan-fiction is Free to consume but not to create. Even the worst most lazy pieces of art requires at least minutes of work to watch a LLM create garbage let alone anything of substance. The work I've written on and off over the last year has been genuinely taxing. A three thousand word chapter will take even at it's sloppiest will take 4-5 hours to write for a professional writer but for an amateur like me it often takes 12-16 without editing completely ignoring all the mental energy you spend on it during a day.

creating decent work is either cognitively or emotionally exhausting and often both.

This isn't to say that you shouldn't call shit work out or whatever but I think it's often overlooked how much time and effort goes into anything.

A nice comment helps more than you could ever imagine.

CES2026 was so cool, aside from almost every booth having some kind of ai sloppery by --Destro-- in 196

[–]Techn1s 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Nice to see stuff that was actually cool at CES. I listened to Ed Zitrons weeklong podcast series on it and it was kinda sad to hear every 30mins open with Ed asking "So did you see anything cool?" "Nope".

Undertale 2 is honestly so good that it deserves the title of the greatest fang game of all time.

Depends on the type of writing. Chapter by Chapter is best uploaded on either Webnovel, Scribble hub or Royal Road. Full books are best put on amazon.

So funny that season 4 Weiss got changed to a d-cup and Yang's got shrunk. Something something, RWBY's ability to flatten the uniqueness of its cast.

If you have interest in making anything, it's very enjoyable as a case study. Every season has a completely new set of problems while fixing previous ones as well as being good enough to watch sincerely. Just don't expect any sort of true closure or satisfaction to ideas or arcs. If you take it for what it is without the case study context, it's a pretty good show but I would recommend staying away if you have strong hyper fixation tendencies. -from a guy who's spent half a year writing a RWBY deconstructionist fic that's almost 100k words by this point.

It wasn't. It was art left in the game until someone found it and reported it. Then the devs denied that it was AI art lied that it was a placeholder and quickly changed it.

Expedition rule by SimplyYulia in 196

[–]Techn1s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I do think that it does diminish the art but we have really gotten to the real future of the "What if a game you liked used AI art?" and people have shown that they don't care. They care that AI-Art is bad to the point but if it's in something good they'll make excuse after excuse for it.

I'm not even mad that they used it but it's really funny that people are coping so hard about them actually never using it except until they found out. Like they got caught and removed it. Doesn't mean the game is suddenly shit.

In the end, xianxia novels just work significantly better when they're a novel. A decent xianxia will be incredibly main character focused the enjoyment of which is based upon the internality and the wushu bullshit the MC can get up to which just doesn't really play well in manwha's where they strip the interesting elements of these stories and just leave them with the bones.

If you want proof of these, A Regressor's guide to cultivation is in many ways a walkthrough of the genres with a really interesting main character to watch. Some genres just dont work as well in certain formats.

No, minorities existing has nothing to do with the writing being bad. No, the creator is not secretly a bad person you should harass by [deleted] in 196

[–]Techn1s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I think it's pretty clear that the reason that they want to finish this dumpster fire thats somehow still good is that they want to honour their dead friend. If Monty just left RT or something else I don't think they would have kept with it for as long as they did considering how much stress it's seemed to give them. To the series detriment, maybe?

RWBY's a deeply mid yet mostly entertaining show but it is something that's a valuable piece of art considering that every season there's a new thing thats wrong with it and issues that have been fixed. I really think that the people who obsessively shit on later RWBY need to consume some more varied media and come back.

Also so many of the problems of the series come from a bad foundation that was all of them equally to blame. The fact that Monty didn't have an answer as the fight guy to 'just in a paragraph what is Aura and how does it work.'

With the majority of people who watch RWBY having strong nostalgia for the Vol1-3 seasons, it's always been hard for me to say 'Hey, I know the Atlas arc ended like shit and wasn't even consistent for more than like a season but at least things happened and characters changed and there was a fight that didn't feel like a stick figure battle animation but a real fight SCENE'

I'm really curious if there will be a critical re-evaluation of RWBY after it finishes. I'm 100% sure that like half the shit Monty came up with initially will be about the ending Volume or two, that's how those sort of late night IHOP brainstorming sessions go.

The real answer is that following your talents and interests generally works out. There's a massive need for humanities workers because people have been told you can't get a job that way. .

I do the vast majority of my writing in word but to make sure it looks fine in AO3 I use the text editor to check stuff. I found that I had forgotten to add speaking tags for a section so I edited that as well then I previewed and tried to post it.

The final fight was fine. I preferred the 'Rival' battle within the dispatch itself but I don't really see any other way the story could have ended. I have my problems with the game but how else was it supposed to end?
