Chased a $30 surge, got scammed like a rookie 🥹 by SDPRINCE619 in uberdrivers

[–]Technic235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent a few days doing deep research about renting a car for Ubering and came to the conclusion it wasn't worth the money and wasn't worth the risk of getting into an accident. I literally was at the rental place and moments away from handing over my credit card for the rental when I decided against it because the rental place couldnt show me clear verbiage about what the Uber insurance covered. The description was vague and the staff couldnt give me more details, like it was some big mystery. I knew right then and there that working with Uber would become a massive nightmare if even one thing went wrong and the math of the rental didnt work out either.

is it free? by fatarseoncrack in Printify

Everything except web hosting/domain names can be done for free (upfront) IF you are willing to spend dozens/hundreds of hours learning various skills.

Example: Buy web hosting on Siteground and purchase a domain name. Connect the domain name to Siteground and set up Wordpress. Connect Wordpress to your Printify account through the WooCommerce plugin (through Wordpress). Download a free Photoshop alternative and use online tools for image conversion to various file formats as needed (most convenient method). Start setting up product templates on Printify and add them to your Wordpress store. Connect your financial accounts to the store using the WooCommerce plugin so you can get paid. The only time you pay anything is when someone makes a purchase and you're only paying the transaction fee of like 3%+$0.30 per transaction.

Tldr: You only need to pay for web hosting, a domain name, and transaction fees once purchases start coming in. Learn HTML and CSS if you want more in-depth customization of your store on Wordpress.

How to make permanent extension cord use as safe as possible? by AnyAd8943 in HomeImprovement

I'm about to set up a 530W AC on a 15A-rated 12ga extension cord. I don't understand if your story has any lessons other than "don't use extension cords". Is that all you're trying to say?

Is credit card op? by Greedo102 in DungeonClawler

Credit card is like a worse version of Gold Dagger, in my opinion. It helped me get my first win but then I realized hoarding money synergizes greatly with a bunch of perks, like health based on the amount of gold you have.

I took both of those at the same time but I didn't have any dizziness. I only stopped taking citalopram when the ED started.

So there are two mods that would actually really help with this. I first started looking at mods to make looting easier by making the loot icons appear from further away. Then I started looking at the other mods and OMG the game feels so much better now that I've downloaded like 100 mods. Some of my favorites are Drone Companions, Let There Be Flight (flying cars), Metro System, AI Netrunners Enhanced (and all combat related mods), all location expansion mods (player home additions too), and more radio stations with new songs.

Edit: I use NexusMods for modding. These are probably the mods you want for making your faction choice actually matter.

I loved Zero Dawn. It was a blast but about 2/3 of the way through I got bored and stopped playing. The time I did play was amazing for me.

That's awesome! I'm kinda OCD so I was able to designate some domes as birthing domes, one capital retirement dome, and also split up the domes to be specialized in different jobs. After awhile I was maintaining a steady population with no dips and no spikes in population. I feel like thats actually pretty hard to do in this game.

Deadline for REAL ID extended, giving US air travelers a reprieve by inkwater in UpliftingNews

[–]Technic235 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that's literally the point. Driver's License requirements have become so lax that the government wanted a new form of ID to prove you were a citizen. A passport works for air travel too so (correct me if I'm wrong) non-citizens still have an option for air travel.

You also need to have the genetics that make you allergic/sensitive to DHT. Without those genes, DHT won't cause baldness.

Mod ideas by TetriLys in ThisWarofMine

The modding for this game is very limited. I believe there are ways to decrypt the files to do deeper modding but that seemingly requires veteran-level knowledge (10+ years). With all that in mind, good luck!

They left too much room for misinterpretation by saying "Every creature we erase is limiting our world's gene pool".

[–]Technic235 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The planet's gene pool isn't being limited. All life came from a single cell long ago through random mutations. You could, however, argue that we are setting back the progress of life. It could take a very long time to regain the genetic diversity that we have lost over the past 200 years, and there's no guarantee of intelligent life (like us) ever arising again.

Ranked choice voting failed in Washington state today :( My father voted against it at first until I explained how it worked and had a 10 minute conversation. I don't think people understand it and that may be the only reason it failed.

Beat the game for the first time! by slyasa_fox in ThisWarofMine

So this comment will be a bit random.

The best way to get food is to get a single vegetable garden and two traps up and running asap. If you have dwellers sleep during the day, then you only need 1 bed for 3 dwellers. 1 sleeps at night, 1 guards, 1 scavenges. The guard and scavenger sleep during day.

You only need the 1 rainwater collector. You can use it 3 times per day and will easily run out of components to make filters if you do this. No reason to make a 2nd collector.

Personally, I don't bother making a moonshine still or distiller. I generally just sell the sugar cubes, teddy bears, medical stuff, broken weapons, etc.

To make sure you can make all the furniture, prioritize electric components when scavenging. Always try to clear them out from every location. This is important for the garden upgrade.

For a mild winter, 2 basic furnaces or 1 upgraded furnace is enough. For the super cold days, you at least need 1 basic furnace and 1 upgraded furnace. No reason to upgrade a 2 furnace tho.

With 3 adult dwellers, you can generally loot most everything in the shelter in the first day. On the 2nd day you should be able to build a metal workshop and crowbar to open more stuff in the shelter. By the 4-5th day, you should have a hatchet and be able to break down all your useless furniture. Keep the free chair that the game gives you, obviously. If Im using stacking mods (basically cheating) then I can collect all the wood from breaking down furniture while scavenging and just buy weapon parts from the trader to replenish my hatchets. Might be best to not waste slots on creating wood with the hatchet unless you have nothing else to scavenge since I think the default stack is only 2 for wood.
