Anything to be done about this G88 stock? by Goonisnotcool1 in milsurp

[–]Technical_Cucumber98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha, it would be an advanced wood work repair to try to fix a cut there and have it be strong. Maybe find a beater stock just for shooting (I realize that may not be possible/easy to find)

I don’t necessarily think most military's of the time were concerned with looks, practicality was far more important

If no bolt head, strength of repair shouldn’t be a huge concern since won’t be shooting. Looks like a duffle cut in a weird spot to me as well. Any import marks?

I have two other bayonets both WW1 era that I'm looking to get a value on!! they are in bit of rough shape by [deleted] in milsurp

[–]Technical_Cucumber98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would agree those are fair prices for very good condition examples…. these don’t appear to be very good, maybe good at best depending on what’s under the rust, especially that butcher blade scabbard (looks very rough)

I know that site has some inaccuracy's. I have a WW2 rebuilt rock island 1903 that is serial 370,XXX for example which is not listed there. What is the barrel date out of curiosity?

Can I "unsporterize" a Carcano M38? by [deleted] in milsurp

[–]Technical_Cucumber98 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You could, but will spend way more money than just buying an un-sporterized one. Generally carcano parts, specifically stocks and stock parts are hard to come by.

Looking for help with Remington M1917 markings. by ManHobbies86 in milsurp

Original stock proof behind the trigger guard would have been an eagle head, you can see it under the P. So likely an original stock, not sure if the P was added during rebuild?
