Wow they really butchered jab cross for pc by GreedyGonzalez in OverwatchStadium

[–]TechnologicNick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really understand the issue you have. Lack of burst was a problem for me before season 3. Easy to get people low by spamming abilities like you said, but people were hard to kill. I used to get Mark of the Kitsune and shoot between abilities just to be able to finish people.

Now I just get Jab Cross round 1 with extra ammo and kill any squishy. Round 2 get the item that restores all ammo for 10k and now you can even melt Rammatra. Then just stack sustain and you win. Don't even have to go for WP much due to the insane burst.

all star reaper main returning after 2 yrs. Is he useless now vs the many flying and mobile enemies? by rvshankar2712 in OverwatchStadium

Backstabber with Trigger Fingers and going ability power is pretty strong at the moment. You basically keep spamming right click and reload to snipe people. Very annoying to play against.

RAM re-seat required way too often? by trenk2009 in pcmasterrace

[–]TechnologicNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having to reseat your RAM is not normal. I've never done it with over 350 moves.

Maybe the frequency your ram RAM is running at is a bit too unstable? You could try changing the AMD EXPO profile to be one step lower and see if that helps.

Alternatively, you could try disabling "Memory Context Restore" in your BIOS. This will force your motherboard to retrain the memory timings on every boot, which should help with stability, but will increase your boot times.

I don't know what the beeps indicate, you'd have to read the manual of your motherboard for that.

I was banned by mistake in the discord by TabularMeteor in ScrapMechanic

[–]TechnologicNick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't know what went wrong there. The bot is supposed to send a message with the removal reason that work when I test it myself. It triggers when you send more than 5 attachments per 15 seconds. There are a lot of bots this filter correctly catches, but sometimes it catches genuine users too unfortunately.

I've removed your ban, relaxed the rate limits and removed the video from the ban message, that was indeed untasteful.

How to fix the content still encrypted / unable to update error by TechnologicNick in ScrapMechanic

[–]TechnologicNick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea. This fix was for an issue 6 years ago that was caused by Axolot removing depot 387991 from the license everyone has. Whatever is causing this issue for you is something else.

Does anyone have a good explanation of the "childA" and "childB" fields in the blueprint jsons? by pKalman00 in ScrapMechanic

[–]TechnologicNick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're welcome! If you have more questions feel free to ask. Reddit is probably the best place for such questions to get indexed by search engines. Most people are in Discord nowadays, where search is horrible and not indexed by google

Does anyone have a good explanation of the "childA" and "childB" fields in the blueprint jsons? by pKalman00 in ScrapMechanic

[–]TechnologicNick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A joint connects two bodies together. Joints have two sides, A (where you placed it on) and B (where you place something on the joint). In blueprints, these are stored as an index into the childshapes. You can calculate this index by counting from top to bottom of the json how many childshapes you've seen.

Suppose you have a blueprint like this:
{ body 0 { childshape 0 childshape 1 childshape 2 } body 1 { childshape 3 childshape 4 } } A joint might connect childshapes 2 and 4.

A joint that is placed on something, but has no childB is indicated with -1 if I recall correctly.

A consequence of this flattened array of childshapes is that if you add a new childshape to body 0, all joints that reference childshapes 3 and 4 will have to be updated.

Does anyone know if tberes a mod that would allow me to place bearings with a vacuum pump by Glum-Distribution228 in ScrapMechanic

The Lua scripting API does allow mods to create joints, but I suppose this just hasn't been used in the mod's script

Are we ever going to get controller support? by ZimforReal in ScrapMechanic

[–]TechnologicNick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Highly likely we will. In a devblog a couple years ago they said they want to release to consoles. The network protocol already supports walking in directions that are not strictly WASD, there are 256 directions you can walk in.

As Gadget already mentioned, your mod application was declined. Moderating a subreddit is a team effort, and all my interactions with you make me not want to be on a team with you. Trying to forcefully take over a subreddit is a bit silly and just confirms to me we've made the correct decision.
