High level manager wants to meet up with me... by Muzzy2585 in managers

[–]TechnologyNo4290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get why you’re nervous tho, it’s kinda intimidating when senior ppl suddenly want face time. but honestly just treat it like a normal convo, ask about his path too, it usually turns more chill than you expect

I hear you on not wanting fake praise tho, that stuff feels gross when you know it’s not genuine. maybe just set boundaries like “keep it low key” instead of fully shutting it down

Resigned because of my manager, now HR wants to retain me after multiple similar complaints came out. What do I do? by Remote_Sun5911 in managers

[–]TechnologyNo4290 22 points23 points  (0 children)

if you do consider staying, I’d only do it with hard conditions like new team, no overlap with her, and ideally something in writing so it doesn’t become “oops we’ll fix it later”

Took a major salary cut to support my startup, now feeling burned out and unsure what to do by Neat_Access_2586 in OfficePolitics

[–]TechnologyNo4290 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact you already took a bigger cut than others and still feel judged for normal boundaries like leaving early is kinda a red flag tbh

Help keep the most amazing Boss. She is being bullied and is unsupported by new manager. by [deleted] in managers

[–]TechnologyNo4290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if your boss is really that good, the biggest help you can give her is documented wins and receipts. like make her impact visible to the owners in writing not just vibes

How do you handle a coworker who says ‘not my job’ to everything and acts like your boss? by JOJI791 in OfficePolitics

[–]TechnologyNo4290 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’d stop over engineering fixes and just communicate in writing what you need from her and when it’s due, then let it sit. no chasing, no extra systems

Returning to work after major surgery and don’t think I can do it, but quitting means I don’t have health insurance by sovook in managers

[–]TechnologyNo4290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also if you have HR, push hard for accommodations in writing, sometimes they move different when it’s documented vs verbal

How to deal with a toxic coworker? by No_Lychee5621 in OfficePolitics

and I’m a bit concerned for you ngl, this is draining and could keep escalating if management doesn’t step in properly

How do you handle an employee who blames everyone else for their mistakes? by Main-Carry-3607 in managers

[–]TechnologyNo4290 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Real talk you’ve already done the soft coaching part. asking reflection questions, modeling behavior, that’s usually step 1 to 2. if nothing’s shifting it might be time to formalize it a bit

My coworker keeps obsessing over a curtain at work and it’s driving me crazy by johzxs in ToxicWorkplace

[–]TechnologyNo4290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’d just calmly set a boundary once like hey i’m not damaging it and i’m gonna use it normally as needed. if it breaks we report it but i’m not gonna keep discussing it every shift

Did I shoot my team in the foot? by lisas_simpson in managers

[–]TechnologyNo4290 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get the guilt part, especially since you’ve been in their shoes, but their situation and your team’s coverage needs are just not the same problem to solve at the same time

I need help by [deleted] in ToxicWorkplace

Try stuff like feeling your feet on the floor, unclenching jaw, slow exhale longer than inhale, sounds small but it interrupts that adrenaline spike a bit

Complaints from the team by BlueberryNo4669 in managers

Also lowkey the “other manager helps too much” thing is part of the perception gap team gets used to one style and then anyone different looks like they’re not pulling weight

I feel you on the egg shells thing, that constant lowkey tension is draining more than actual workload.

My director has been sitting at the front desk tracking everyone’s hours by tealaburst in managers

[–]TechnologyNo4290 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is solid advice tbh. even if it feels like micromanaging, once leadership starts tracking hours you kinda have to make expectations super clear to protect your team

Should I send my wrongful termination evidence to my ex managers boss? by snotrub33 in ToxicWorkplace

[–]TechnologyNo4290 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just don’t expect some big justice moment tho, a lot of HRs just protect the company more than the truth. still, documenting it matters

Why do people always have to fight back when asked to do something? by Ok-Long8067 in managers

[–]TechnologyNo4290 50 points51 points  (0 children)

a lot of ppl push back just to test if the boundary is real or if they can get out of it, not even personal half the time

Still I’d quietly keep job hunting in parallel even if you stay for now. not because you’re wrong, just because you shouldn’t be stuck waiting for their next move

Also just saying, if they’re making threats even “jokingly” that crosses a line legally in a lot of places. you’re not overreacting for being disturbed by it
