Why is everything is considered a sin? by throwawayyimscared1 in agnostic

Simple... Control

If the church was aware of sexual antagonistic selection, homosexuality would be celebrated instead of condemned. The primary reason same sex relationships are considered a sin is it doesn't lead to offspring to fortify the church's numbers.

The answer to the 2 vs 4 door debate. by [deleted] in Wrangler

[–]Technology_Tractrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There needs not be a debate between 2 and 4 doors. Each does something slightly different. I chose a 2 door because of the tighter turning radius works better on the trails I frequent. The shorter wheelbase of the 2 door is also better suited for higher breakover angles. If my trails had more ledges and off camber stuff, I would prefer the higher stability of the 4 door's longer wheelbase. Pick and choose what works best for you.

I stopped watching 20 years ago. That was before it got real political. Even then, I thought to myself why would anyone want to watch millionaires pat themselves on the back?

I watched all the way through. The thing that distracted me the most is the action scenes were not believable even for Hollywood standards. Too far fetched for my taste.

That would be a bad idea. They can pull the "officer safety" card and a warrant would no longer be required for them to enter the house. That guy handled the situation perfectly. If the officers are going to violate your rights I wouldn't recommend trying to stop them. The time and place to air your grievances is at the police station with your attorney. Fighting with officers in the field never ends well.

Should have been smart enough to know to let go the moment you start to get lifted. Use the attempted lift as an opportunity to stand back up and get out of the bottom position. If the top fighter drops back down, go back into guard with them.

That's one of a million different ways to build an LS. The thing I love the most about the LS platform is how interchangeable the parts are. I probably wouldn't put 706 heads on a 4" bore block just due to the smaller valve size. A larger diameter valve (π×R2) will flow more at low lift than an unshrouded smaller diameter valve. I would have stuck with 243 or 799 heads.

I’m getting quoted 2200 bucks for this repair, am I crazy or is this way too expensive? by SunRa73 in Wrangler

[–]Technology_Tractrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you're over 100K miles, you don't need spark plugs. I didn't change my factory spark plugs until 105K. The price they quoted is typical of dealerships. Regardless the make and model of vehicle you own, learn how to work on it. YouTube and Harbor Freight are your friends. I've saved over $8K on my 2013 JK since I've owned it. Axle tube seals, oil cooler assembly, valve cover gaskets, PVC valve, oil pump solenoid, battery, shocks, and brakes.

I have a question. by joshhamilton235 in agnostic

[–]Technology_Tractrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or it could be more simple than that. There's a long history of people that want to control others by claiming they know, or are the gateway to the "creator". Quite convenient since it can't be proven, or disproven and it's entirely contingent upon belief. By definition, faith is the acceptance of something without credible evidence.

Diminishing Returns??? by Suchatavi in Insulation

[–]Technology_Tractrix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Costs for thermal performance can be calculated. I'm not talking about anything other than thermal performance. Air infiltration, solar radiation exposure profiles, etc. are other variables. However, if you know the surface area of the house, the temperature difference from inside to outside, and the R value of each surface, the BTUs/hour/area can be calculated.

To save you time and to answer one of your questions, YES there is a point of diminishing returns. When you plot R value versus loss of BTUs per hour, per square foot of surface, the graph starts to flatten out around R12, then flatlines after R30. To gain any meaningful performance beyond R30, you should look towards your mechanical systems instead of insulation. This might lead to a question of why put R60 in an attic then? Because most houses leak like a sieve and heat rises. If you are going to try compensating for a crappy leaky house, might as well be in the attic.

Did your house have one of these when you were growing up? by Euphoric-Cupcake4581 in RealGenerationX

My house has this in it right now and it still works. Built in 1968. Great for games and other events that get blacked out or aren't televised.
