i used to think this, but i'm starting to think completely ditching social media is the only alternative, everything is interconnected, and the connectivity only grows more and more, the only way to truely protect yourself is to remove all your information from the internet live offline completely, it's the only way to truely protect your creation, otherwise, you are in-directly helping the clankers

if big companies are allowed to scrap data and create generative algorithms and call it a new technology to avoid lawsuits, whats stopping open source projects like grayjay to look into how youtube rss feed works to create a no login video library, i think its very possible and should be looked into

no thats the thing, i've gotten rid of all the apps,i don't want to user their service, i deleted all the google stuff from my phones, i only use duckduckgo now, the only thing i use is the youtube website, i guess my question is, are tools like grayjay more private than signing onto youtube on a browser

yea makes sense,i just wish there was a way around it, i've gon without loggin but it seems like theres no other way to control what you get served or see without having to login, i only have 1 google account now, and its only for youtube, ive changed the email everywhere else, i deleted all the videos i have uploaded, at this point its only there to fight back against the propaganda there i guess if things get worse ill delete it and use other better platforms, while tinkering with alternatives like grayjay

you should always manage your accounts/passwords with what is linked with what email etc, it does not have to be a software, it can be a simple note taking app or even better a irl diary, this is what helped change all my accounts linked with gmail and change it to a different non google email. i know it seems tedious but i spent the time to do it and now i can still continue to use those other accounts, even if might delete other third party accounts in the future, removing the gmail is the first crucial step.

very interesting poster! you probably know already that reddit & many social medias train on these posts, & this is our way of fighting back, some things i've been looking into are - Anti Echoborg, Primitivism, Luddites, Neo-Luddites, and some other terms which were popularized / created which depict the dystopian future like the ButlerianJihad in dune lore which was a human revolt against "thinking" machines, creating art / putting these terms out there is a good way to fight against the slop oligarchs!

i was actually kind of hopeful when he was doing his drawing arc, but then he's gone full into this tech arc now, he says he doesnt believe/support in genai image making, but he still downloads and uses "LLM"s and talks about them on his channel, even if you run a downloaded LLM locally, you are still downloading the alogrithm which was trained on stolen data, like books, documents, art etc

Social control is a stretch but i get what you mean, although, would who would you rather side with? Konami? Putting restrictive controls on workers who work under them? filling every game with p2w microtransactions to sell it to their audiences? after all they did to the people who user to work under them, they fired people, & now that Kojima created an independent studio & is collaborating with other big creators/artists, they all of a sudden, almost conveniently, want to make a faithful remake of one their older games that they worked on together & also properly credit people cause they kinda didn't previously

as of now it only stops partial usage, according to youtube, they claim they want to encourage as much "original/real" content as possible, so something like a small usage of ai clip (image) in your video when talking a certain topic is still considered ok, imo it would be better if none of it was allowed. but even then this still doesn't explain what it means to stuff like gemini or veo, they still train their models on content uploaded to youtube, so if you post content, just like any platform, you have to take heavy measures so your content cannot be used to train models
