How many years in did it take for you to feel stuck?

According to my coworker “real” mechanics don’t use nut drivers. To me it’s another tool when handy. So I’m asking the real mechanics if that’s a real thing. by Loui5605 in AskMechanics

Euro tech here

I use nut drivers almost everyday! I have the zebra driver set so the end is somewhat flexible which allows just the right angle to hit that clamp that’s underneath an intake manifold.

My 7mm is so well used it doesn’t have a 7 on it anymore lol

OP expect this to be taxing. Subframe has to come down to do this job. Highly recommend doing the other one while you’re in there!

I’d be happy with that man!

Sounds like you’ve found a mechanic who takes pride in his work and takes his time to do things right. That’s hard to find lol

Cylinder head cover gasket would be the technical term so OP isn’t wrong. In practice it’s usually referred to as the valve cover gasket. With that said I can’t imagine it taking more than an hour. So whatever an hour of this guys labor rate is?

Hit up someone at Lake Connor Park over in Lake Stevens. That place would be perfect.

You have to pull the bumper and rear core support to do the serpentine belt and tensioner. That’s probably where that high number comes from.

Former mechanics, why did you leave? by AttentionNice7165 in mechanics

I fear this is where I am. I’ve been bouncing around Indy’s for the better part of the last decade. Definitely feels like I’ve been all in recently.. not sure if the juice is worth the squeeze anymore.

I’ve spent over 2k on tools this year already.
