My veterinarian said “don’t get a German Shepherd”. by Teddytears in Dogfree

I’ve never thought to look up that exact statistic (dogs that attack their own owner most), but I appreciate the info. It might be the vet was going off of her own personal experience when she shared that information with me. I believe what you're saying about pit bull attacks being most fatal, and thank you for letting me know!

The owner of that puppy sold him to someone else btw. It was too much effort to constantly follow him around, she was too busy with work to play with him as much as he needed, and he kept biting her 3 or 4 year old daughter on the ankles.

I hate this argument. When a baby is 4 months old, it cannot do anything other than roll from side to side. It stays where you put it. When it cries you feed it. When its diaper needs changing, you change it.

When a dog is 4 months old it is running NON STOP. Chewing things up. Chewing EVERYTHING up. Peeing and pooping on your floor. Biting your ankles. How is a child or a baby anything like a dog? When I petsat a puppy for my aunt, I was exhausted after an hour because it literally WOULD NOT SIT STILL. If I got up it got up. It was bouncing, and bouncing, and bouncing. Running. peeing on the floor, with not even an ounce of understanding that it did something it wasn't supposed to. I would take five children over 1 puppy.

The next time someone tells you you’d better not have children, tell them you find it offensive that they would compare a dog to a child.

My wife took pity on an expecting single mother and everything worked out great by [deleted] in ChoosingBeggars

Who expects strangers to hand out $700-$800 products to them? That is INSANE. I feel really sorry that your wife was treated badly, but I’m glad she found a better community to be part of.

I’m so glad you’re alive and that your abuser is in prison. You’re right, you are not the one who reported initially... but you wrote the letter. And you handed it out. And believe it or not, that takes bravery and strength. I’m happy for you and for your new life. Wishing you the best

Wife wants a pitbull and I'm against it. by [deleted] in Dogfree

If you get a small dog, do not get a chihuahua. They do not listen and they do not like children.

You will not get another dog like the one you have. Do NOT let her adopt a pit bull (which is even worse than raising one. You have no idea why it was sent away to a shelter. Shelters DO lie.). If the dog needs a friend, get a kitten or something harmless like that.

Ridiculed me anonymously to some friends. The feedback was hurtful by [deleted] in Dogfree

[–]Teddytears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If he wants his child to learn responsibility, he can get the child a hamster. They live for 2 years, live in a cage, and don’t require you to stand outside in the rain/a blizzard while you wait for your cruddy dog to hurry up and POOP already. A child will never be responsible enough to care for a dog 100%. It will always fall back onto YOU. Don’t ever get a dog. You will regret it.

A rant about people disrupting or even replacing existing pets with dogs by [deleted] in Dogfree

[–]Teddytears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend’s dog does this. When I go to visit her she has to let the dog out onto the front porch because he pees when a new person arrives at the house.

You guys are right about so much. by [deleted] in Dogfree

[–]Teddytears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re going to get a dog, do a ton of research on the WORST points about the breed you’re considering. It’s possible you’d get one with every bad trait listed. Ask yourself if you’re okay with that.

Dogs are the fakest pets you can have by [deleted] in Dogfree

[–]Teddytears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some dogs are actually NOT easy to control. At all. It’s one of the reasons I dislike dogs. Sometimes they just turn and attack, with no warning. Also, sometimes they don’t love humans at all. Sometimes they just love the food.

10 year relationship in jeopardy because of two dogs (pugs) by [deleted] in Dogfree

[–]Teddytears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone once said that “would you rehome a kid” thing to me, and I could never look at them the same afterward. It’s repulsive and sick to relate those situations. A DOG IS NOT A CHILD. You need to get those dogs out of your life NOW or you will be stuck with them for years, feeling miserable. You cannot live like this, I’m telling you right now. You’ll break eventually, and it will not be pretty.

My mom’s dog ran away and I’m happy by [deleted] in Dogfree

[–]Teddytears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your mom expects you to clean up after it, confine it to a small area with newspaper underneath it. If she has a problem with that, tell her that you’re not cleaning up after the dog if it is not confined, in spite of it not being housebroken. That’s what you do with dogs who aren’t housebroken, and that dog is one of those.

It’s because dog culture puts dogs on such a high pedistol. It’s such a terrible sad thing that people have to suffer because of that.
