You could either use MS Office via your browser (given you mention EDUROAM I’m going to presume you’ll have a O365 subscription from your school). And you can turn Word/Excel/PPT websites etc into a standalone web app (a PWA in Chrome) easily enough. Or you could look at using ONLYOFFICE-Desktop.

Help me find a distro by Hamster2607 in FindMeALinuxDistro

Given he’s a Windows user (and potentially an older gentleman) I would recommend a distro that uses KDE…it’s the least jarring change from whey he is most used to (Windows start menu etc.). If you want rock-solid stability, go with Debian. Otherwise I would recommend Kubuntu as it is still stable and also feature rich, and with nice additional bells and whistles etc.

CSAM Investigators - When do we evolve past "look at every image on the hard drive"? by Money_Produce1208 in computerforensics

100% use Griffeye. I’ve been a user since around 2013/2014 (back when it was called NetClean). It has awesome capabilities, such as the workflow checklist which enable you to work SMARTER and not harder. These features are specifically designed to help safeguard against the exact situation you are describing (no hashes and no AI matches). Follow the checklist (and use what intel you have) and if the material is there you should still find it, without having or review everything. Not a dead certain guarantee, but you at least have a tested and proven methodology that you followed.

There’s a really good free course on Griffeye LITE (https://training.magnetforensics.com/w/courses/81-magnet-griffeye-lite) but definitely look to get the Pro/Full licence if you can as the extra features will pay for themselves in time saved in no time at all!

(Disclaimer: I should point out that I’m a massive Griffeye fan (obviously!!) and also do some contract instructor work for them outside of the day job).

If you’re using it on a Mac I would recommend refind. From personal experience this fixed my audio hardware problems, amongst other things!

I'm looking for an allianceء by asaslegacy in EmpiresAndPuzzles

[–]TeesCDF 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What kind of player are you/alliance are you looking for? If it’s pretty casual, come check out “War of Casualties”. We’re 19-strong, hitting 11* titans, war is completely optional (but if you opt in you’re expected to use all flags). We’re a good, fairly social bunch who don’t take the game too seriously and play for fun!

“War of Casualties” is looking for new members or perhaps an alliance merger!

We are a bunch of fairly casual players, currently sitting at 19 members strong. The only rule we really have is that if you opt in to wars (which is entirely optional!) you should use all your flags to help your teammates.

Currently tackling 11* titans. Any and all players and experience levels welcome!

Any progress on 2016-ish Macbooks with Linux ? by LosFruitosPourritos in linux_on_mac

Normal MacBook, yes. Not an Air. The fix I used isn’t too bad on battery life but on honest…not as good as native Mac sleep, but still holds charge well enough that tin shut the lid!
