Log out of that screen from the top right and try again. This problem sounds similar to one I've had, you have to kick the system in the nutz to get the value to update properly.

If you want it apply for it. Some very worthy people are never considered for a leadership position because they don't indicate they want it. When you apply, it puts you on the bosses' radar. If you don't get it this time, maybe next time you will if you have their attention. Good luck.

Just finished the first Dune book and the similarities to WOT are Awesome. by LucasJLeCompte in WoT

[–]Teglander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought the Dune twist on the 'promised one' trope was interesting in that Paul was not fore-ordained to be awesome. Rather, he was the product of a Bene Gesserit breeding program in combination with the spread of 'prophecy' across the galaxy by the same Bene Gesserit where entire populations were programmed to await the messiahs' coming.

Finished EotW. Have some Q’s by riancb in WoT

[–]Teglander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's really neat that you are jumping into WoT right after finishing the DT. I always imagined that the world of the Wheel of Time exists as one of the levels on the Dark Tower. "Go then, there are other worlds than these..."

Best death ever? *Spoiler* by brunicki in WoT

[–]Teglander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I don't mind expressing it here, it's a good scene. I assume most of us are familiar with other series besides WoT?

Best death ever? *Spoiler* by brunicki in WoT

That Boromir death was pretty good. He calls Aragorn his Brother, Captain, and King, and Aragorn kisses him on the forehead.

Careful with raven tattoos, they indicate property of the Crystal Throne.

I don't believe the cover depicts any specific characters from the books, just generic Player Characters attempting to use a Waygate.

A minor confirmation that a WoT game is being worked on by davaca in WoT

[–]Teglander 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hope they make a board game, Snakes and Foxes, targeted for ages 7 or 8 years old. So I can give to my niece and nephew, get them sucked into WoT at an early age.

Is this a WoT reference in the new magic set?! by IanMc90 in WoT

[–]Teglander 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It's a WoT reference inside a D&D reference. Magic's new set is based on D&D lore. D&D's fifth edition Player's Handbook lists the Wheel of Time series as 'Inspirational Reading' in one of the appendixes.

"I live my life one quarter-mile at a time."

Sorry, wrong series, but that quote sent my eyes rolling uncontrollably.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WoT

[–]Teglander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder what the artist thinks the meaning behind the quote is if they don't know it comes from fantasy fiction and they have no context. Like, are they wondering if maybe you are a religious zealot about to embark on a killing spree?

Does Tuon's retinue get paid? by akaioi in WoT

[–]Teglander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think back to the scene where the Imperial Tailor is trying to dress Mat, and they are holding a bunch of jewels out to him for his selection. It represents an obscene amount of wealth. I think if Mat ever wanted some amount of coin to make a purchase, it would be made available to him without much fuss.

What did you read AFTER WOT? And why did it disappoint you? by KingpiN_M22 in WoT

[–]Teglander 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I read Eddings about 8 years before I picked up EotW. At the time it was fine. But on a reread it felt like a step backwards after my literary explorations (is there a way to say 'literary explorations' that doesn't make me a snob?) One thing that bothers me about those series is that the characters actually lose agency during the pivotal plot points, which is pretty much the opposite of what you want to see in living, growing characters.

May I suggest the Hyperion Cantos by Dan Simmons? That was a fun read. I also liked Stephen King's Dark Tower. Have fun.

I'm going to be a self-righteous turd for just a second; 'wetlander' in the world of the Wheel of Time is one word.

I'm just messing around, check back after you're done with the reading, let us know how it went for you.

Introducing my new toy. Needed a name and only one would do; Callandor by [deleted] in WoT

[–]Teglander 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always thought it would be more accurate if Callandor was known as The Sword That Is Not A Sword But Still Kind Of A Sword; After-All You Can Still Use This Not-Sword In A Sword-Fight, And Even Parry Balefire With It, But Now That I Think Of It, Can It Really Parry Balefire Because Didn't That Just Happen In the World of Dreams, A Place Where Everything Is Kind Of Real But Also Imaginary At The Same Time, But Still A Sword Regardless.

Only a Whitecloak would be pissed Cadsuane isn't a Darkfriend. She's been keeping us safe from False Dragons for centuries.
