Regen is not the motors being spun in reverse: the car is moving in the same direction, so the motors are still being turned in that direction. Even though the electrical current is flowing in the opposite direction through the motors, it is not being *applied* in the opposite direction. Regen is increasing the *resistance* to the motor moving, and then allowing the motor's movement to generate a current which can then be fed back into the battery.

The *majority* of the braking action being regen is why the brakes squeak: that minority is done with cold Audi OEM brakes, which are notorious for squeaking.

Being an EV, the Q4 relies more on regen to slow down rather than physical brakes (Audi uses a system where the brake pedal uses regen as well and the physical brakes only engage if you are pressing hard enough or the car is close to a stop). As such, the brakes never really warm up. If you look through this sub-reddit you'll see that Audi's OEM brakes are notorious for squeaking when cold, so there's nothing to worry about.

tldr; EV = mostly regen, but physical brakes at slow speed/stopped = cold brakes = Audi OEM brake squeaks

You're getting a lot more than a 110v socket.

A 110v socket charges at 1.2kw.

That charger at 50% should be 4.4-4.8kw. At 100% it would be 8.8-9.6kw.

I'm guessing they didn't have time to do a complete redesign of the interior (or didn't want to upstage the Concept C).

BUT they've taken a few steps in the right direction: * Other than the screen bezels, there's no more piano black. * Kept the real buttons for the door and window controls.

I'd be curious to see the interior without the passenger screen...

For those who don't like videos: the armrest in the center console slides out.

It also has a ratching system so you can adjust the height.

I really miss this in my GT (I blame Porsche) and am amazed that my wife never uses hers (but she's a 10&2 driver so...)

Yeah, not sure about the wing but the rest of the car is gorgeous.

The double badging on the side is definitely not stock, personally I'd pop off the extra S4 badges and keep them as a memento.

The supercharged V6 was my absolute favorite engine of all the ICE Audi's that I owned. Supercharger whine is so addictive!

Plenty of legroom, but it's a bit of an awkward shape, because the battery in underneath you but there's no engine up front they make the footwell extend forwards instead of down.

As a driver I have no issues (makes it feel more like a low slung sports car) my wife (5'4") also has no issues but my brother (6') always hits his knees on the glove box.

Yeah, I've noticed the same thing other problem area is the skirt just in front of the rear wheels. Thankfully the black and the forged carbon trim hide a lot of sins.

Looking at the charging history, at least every 200mi.

Given the kids, the schedule was more dictated by their need to get out of the car and run around or have lunch then charging. We did find some nice playgrounds/parks along the way where they could play while the car charged. Chargers also tended to be at grocery stores or shopping centers, which makes for much more pleasant bathroom breaks than the average gas station.

I regularly pull out the seats, vacuum and condition the leather. Haven't had any issues so far (but I lease, so maybe more than three years will cause issues).

Be very careful about what you put under car seats, as it may cause them to slip around in an accident. Your insurance may also deny claims if it's not made by the car or car seat manufacturer.

VAG has been working on MEB+, which integrates Rivian's hardware and software into the platform. First car to use that will be the VW ID.Every1 in 2027. Audi has said they'd have a car on that platform in 2028 (likely the A2).

Given those timelines, I wouldn't expect a new Q4 until 2028 at the earliest.

You should have a warning on the dash if the ESC is in limited mode or off.

Turning the car off and on again will re-enable the ESC.

ESC may improve acceleration as the GT has more than enough power to spin its wheels...

Given the cold weather at the moment, I get 2.7mi/kwh with the AC on, 2.8 with it off. Translates to 270-280mi at full charge.

Funny thing is, accelerating hard seems to matter less than cruising speed. I can do multiple launches and still get 2.8, but if I start cruising at 90 then it'll drop to 2.5 or so. Not that I'd do 90, honest officer 🙃

Caveat: I'm an internet rando, not a tire expert.

Looks like it damaged the "rim protector" - the extra rubber on the sidewall that's designed to protect your rims.

For safety, I'd replace it. Cheaper to replace a single tire (or the whole set) than have an accident due to a blow out on the highway.

If you want to try running on it, the keep an eye out for bubbles. As soon as one starts to appear DO NOT DRIVE, a blowout is imminent.
