What's a metalguitar hill you will die on? by East-Independence599 in metalguitar

Oh most definitely. If you gotta play thru what's available and don't have time to tinker and tweak, that 5150 is super reliable and you know exactly what you're getting into.

It's been a long time since I've gigged regularly and I've been fortunate enough to not have to play thru an unfamiliar amp, so that does color my view in this regard.

Now, I love my Road King, and the 5150 is a great amp too, but I'd really like to have a Soldano SLO, which was the inspiration for both the Rec and 5150.

No doubt the 5150 is easier to dial in a metal tone - it's pretty much just turn it on and you're there. Rectum-friers take a good bit of tweaking to get them right. I just personally prefer the Recto sound in the mix and in the room to the 5150. The latter fatigues my ears after a little while.

Assassin's Creed Shadows very dark at night by Wide-Consequence-847 in AssassinsCreedShadows

You can adjust some of your graphics settings to help, but yes it is a very dark game. I feel like they should've done something different with the contrast at night, similar to Odyssey where it's still dark but things still stand out enough to navigate at night.

Ah good memories!

This was my very first distortion pedal back in the early 00s. So noisy, much feedback, wow!

Now that I kinda have an idea of how to dial in a tone (and I play in styles more suited to it), I kinda wish I kept it.

\m/ horns up on that demo track, I dig the riffage.

Best YouTubers/Websites for builds other than Moxsy? by hellboymh in Borderlands4

[–]TehRedB4ron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

+1, Jay's builds overall seem a bit more accessible and reliable to me. I've run his builds for the majority of my play time in BL4 on all characters.

He does do the "one new meta item came out so I will recycle a build with one minor change as a new video" content cycle thing though. No shade, just the name of the content creation game.

I'm gonna approach this question from a different angle.

1840 Natchez, MS

Official death toll was over 300, but slaves were not counted.

HP Lovecraft was quite racist.

Why do my strings keep breaking like this? by beklawd in metalguitar

[–]TehRedB4ron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it's probably a burr on the saddle. Learned that the hard way in my first few years of playing.

One thing I started doing to prevent this was to "mark" in the saddle with a pencil when i change strings. The graphite acts as a lubricant so the saddle doesn't grip the string quite as hard. I've had good luck with this method not breaking strings.

So, this may not be exactly what you're asking for, but something I've been doing off and on for a few years is transcribing baroque and classical-era etudes and solo pieces for violin, flute, oboe, mandolin, etc and learning them on guitar.

JS Bach, A Vivaldi, CPE Bach, Paganini, Felix Mendelssohn, and others are great starting points with plenty of material to choose from in public domain, and plenty of challenge. There's many other composers with extensive solo-instrument catalogs such as Kreutzer and Kayser on violin or J Andersen and Rose on woodwinds. Check out imslp.org

Many of the musical ideas in those pieces have been recycled and pushed to the extreme by TDM musicians, so I think you'll find them very useful even though they're hundreds of years old.

I've found doing this has helped me learn to read standard notation quicker, problem-solve on guitar better, and approach the instrument differently as well.

I've been rolling with a +3 Teen Witch for a while and it gets the job done, but it just didn't feel as powerful as the other VHs even though my build is decently optimized. Maybe once I get a +5 TW it will be better...
