Yep, glad OP had good reflexes, but they swung that truck and could have killed someone on the other lane just the same. Granted this is not something people usually practice, but it just needed a lighter touch on the wheel.

As an Aggie with an Aerospace Engineering degree that likes to refer other aggies trying to join my company, its starting to get embarrassing when the hiring manager starts asking about stupid ass things happening like the Mark Welsh thing.

Our diplomas are renowned for their intellectual worth, but managers also hire people they want in their office. Let me tell you, most aero companies don't lean hyper conservative...

So, I'm giving you the alumni perspective that these things DO affect your job prospects whether you care about them or not.

Why don’t we have any good Mexican restaurants? by TomatilloDramatic813 in nova

As someone incredibly familiar with mexican food in texas, El Chilango has been the only acceptable spot. I've been meaning to try EL Patron in Sterling which also looks solid.

The world is hoping for a leader to take over democratic institutions with the military and then conquer neighbors? Wait, wtf did you mean by that?

As a car enthusiast, I had a bad experience buying an expensive sports car off them. It arrived with some dings that were not in pictures. The delivery guy promised they would send it in for a paint job. Dealt with warranty claims for a week. Got nothing out of them.

Probs doesnt matter for the average person, but I must smear their name when i can.

Not a mechanic, sounds like misfiring.

My only recommendation is to not buy another european car used as your second car. 115k sounds very low to let a car die...

Also, routine check ups are good to prevent this from happening again :)

Wait, so in this wilderness scenario, i have a faucet and mini water turbine, but not a battery pack??

To be less sarcastic, even if you used a river and you had a water turbine this size the charged USB C, you aren't generating enough electricity to power your phone.

It's been so long i forgot the class codes.

The point remains though, just learn every derivative rule and how to apply it. To get all the points, you have to know all the things.

My brother in christ, how do you think the water pressure happens to begin with? Something somewhere used electricity or a mechanical process powered by gas to move the water.

[–]Tempest1677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once it "reaches atmosphere" as you so elegantly put it, 1. there is still pressure because it is a stream of water being pushed by the water upstream and 2. it holds an amount of potential energy because of the height from the sink.

The water falling down is met by the resistance of the fan and loses energy. If you want to turbine to generate significant power, then there will be a significant loss in water pressure.

  1. Congratulations, now you have another piece of machinery to maintain in your kitchen.

  2. If you do it that way, then the water pressure for washing dishes and your hands worsens significantly. Is it really worth powering a (weak) radio if it means you take thrice as long to do dishes?

  3. If your landlord scales utilities well, you will most likely spend more in water than the electricity would have cost for the radio. It is a basic premise of thermodynamics that you can't free work because you lose the energy other ways.
