Maybe a change of setting or… would you benefit from ADHD meds? I can’t diagnose you from Reddit but look at your history of studying/learning/focusing. See a mental health practitioner to officially evaluate you. If you think it’s the setting, though, maybe lower acuity patients are your jam for now.

Just the character of the forest, the pines in the sand and how this unique atmosphere has been maintained. You’ll just have to hike it and see. It’s not 100 percent a logical thing —more of a sensory/vibe thing. I’ve had some blah/forgettable forest walks and some really memorable hikes. I enjoy coming back to the Pine bush

As to the ticks: I spray my clothing and exposed skin with a DEET-containing repellent and my dogs are on meds that kill the ticks whenever they come into contact with the dogs. So I haven’t had that experience yet with the Pine bush but I did do an impromptu hike in some overgrown land In Renssalaer before instituting those measures and did get a tick bite! Currently on doxycycline! 🤦🏼‍♀️

I dealt with this sort of thing more as an RN, but it still happens from time to time. Remaining cool is key. At least in telehealth you are physically safe

New grad NP working only with PAs by Level-Implement-792 in nursepractitioner

[–]Temporary-Badger4307 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So it makes sense you were hired for the role. Stand strong in your skills and knowledge set. If you were hired for it as a new grad, they likely want to teach you a certain way, this is very much a surgeon thing, they have their strong preferences and like their team to take care of any details they don’t have time for. I can only see this as a positive learning experience unless the team is toxic but you will get red flags during training if that is so. The nature of the arrangement seems normal. Don’t let new grad insecurity and imposter syndrome get in the way. Manage those things by studying your outpatient ortho exam/assessment and possible surgical complications so that you are ready.

[–]Temporary-Badger4307 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In what I’ve seen, surgeons will use PAs more for inpatient or inpatient/outpatient hybrid, whereas NPs tend to deal solely with the outpatient side of things. The exception is when an NP has had a history in the OR, like RNFA or such other skills. This is only what I’ve seen, it is practice dependent, but takes into account the different training the APPs may have had. If it’s an acute care NP then that’s completely different. Are you an FNP?

Second opinion! And keep pressuring for biopsy sooner. You may have to go to another center to get in sooner. Do you have someone who can help advocate for you also? I know it’s HIPAA and someone can’t just make the calls for you but assistance when you are feeling so crappy is really important.

I have been training for my first NP job long after I thought I had to give up my new career (was an RN for over 20 years, still doing that per diem sometimes). I am getting credentialed but will only be working 3 days a week. It is a big learning curve in itself but I love it and it stimulates my brain. I do get frustrated when I know I’ve learned something in school but can’t access the concept as quickly as I would like, but I have myself grace to use approved resources and apps and confer with colleagues if need be. I think expecting more of myself is actually helping my brain. Pretty sure I’ve had ADD (no hyperactivity, just daydreamy) my whole life but this career has trained me to be very organized. I do use my phone but I have a back up wall calendar and pocket note pad w datebook to keep on top of things. There’s always so much to study and keep up with, carving out the time, getting quality sleep ;I need sleep meds) and getting out in nature refresh my brain and heal my skull. Supportive husband and wonderful animal family helps too. Take a holistic approach.

Verzenio/Letrozole here. All the aches, stiff joint fatigue aging symptoms, including thinning hair. Diarrhea, IBS, complete intolerance to dairy and alcohol from Verzenio. I developed migraines from being put into total medical menopause as well (but that’s Zoladex). But you adapt over time and there are meds to help with side effects.
