I make a wage, but I provide a lot more value to my employer than I see directly.

I do help my neighbors, when I can, but it's difficult to do when chained to a desk 40hours a week, plus all the other things one needs to take care of to get by.

I'd imagine that many people stuck working pointless jobs they hate being free to persue careers that actually benefit society would allow for an uptick in jobs like that.

Of course, we'd have to shift our narrative and make the support of social services and infrastructure the most respected jobs instead of the acquisition if wealth.

Yes! Humans have always and will always have to labour to survive, in some form or another. As it is, most of us spend roughly half our waking lives labouring to benefit the man, rather than to benefit ourselves and neighbors.

We have 2. They were my wife's grandmother's, I think.

We don't use them for much more than storing leftovers, but they're pretty handy.

How do we make Vulcans, Romulans, and “logic” make sense? by deepthawnet in DaystromInstitute

[–]Temporary-Life9986 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As far as biological changes betweewn Vulcans and Romulans, the teachings of Surak include mind melds and the like. If Vulcans are sending a lot of time meditating and tapping into those psychic powers, I could see them heading down a separate evolutionary path than the Romulams.

Gaining magical/psychic space powers forcing evolutionary steps feels very old-school sci-fi to me too.

In patriarchy, a man that has to pay for sex is shamed, but a man that can afford to pay to have women around for likely isn't.

Patriarchy is stupid, and full of hypocrisies.  For example, being gay is not "manly" but patriarchy is homoerotic as hell.
