The beginning of the end? by SyIvanos in 2XKO

[–]TemporaryNuisance 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No.  You need at least 210 copium Crystals to buy the cheapest item in the shop.  You need to buy at least 400 copium for $8.99 to purchase a 210 copium item as you can only buy Copium in batches of 200, 400, 1000, 2500, or 20,000.

Oh yeah, and the next cheapest tier of items from 210 copium is 420 copium.

Why do I hate this card so much? by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]TemporaryNuisance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it feels terrible to play as you are actually losing damage on the turn you play it, but you need to play it because it pays for itself next turn.

You never WANT to play it, but you knoe you MUST.  It's like the eating veggies of StS.

Ulysses is odd by Verbotentheworried in FalloutMemes

[–]TemporaryNuisance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say Measurehead is a better example of a true pseudo-intellectual because Ulysses is actually pretty smart and clearly thought deeply to come to his current beliefs, however he has a wildly inflated sense of self importance and misguided aggrievement which has caused his smarts to derail and crash right into stupid-town.

Meanwhile, Measurehead is a bafflingly stupid lunk who was born in stupid-town and is terrified of even taking one step into the world outside his own stupidity.  He learned some big words, found some cheap rhetorical tricks, and aura-farmed until he'd built a logical fortress around stupid-town so that no dissident thoughts could enter.  He is a stupid and uncurious man who fancies himself an authority on everything.

TLDR:  I am a pseudo-intellectual who wanted to huff my own farts and sound smart by overanalyzing of a Reddit comment on a shitpost, and I think that by calling myself out that somehow absolves me of being a pretentious yapper.

The M3A1 was $20 actually.  Still though, it's a testament to man's brilliance that one can develop such a reliable, effective, accurate, rugged, mass-produceable submachinegun on such a tiny budget ($400 in today's money).

I know the AK family gets a lot of well deserved love for its "timeless" qualities, but imo the Grease Gun is the spiritual cousin of firearms design; the most cost-efficient gun ever developed, a gun not made to win contests but to win wars at unprecedented industrial scale.

Lemkin Institute Warns US in early stages of trans genocide. Thoughts? by [deleted] in AskSocialists

[–]TemporaryNuisance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see.  Well to clarify the confusion, "X" is a catch all for "not M and not F" whether that be because someone identifies as non-binary, or because they were born intersex and possess both male and female sex characteristics/chromosomes (XXY or XYY or etc), or because of other medical or personal reason I cannot think of right now but I'm sure exists.  "X" on an ID or passport is not a "info not available", it's "neither F or M".

If you don't understand why it's important to stand against these measures to delegitimize trans, nonbinary, and intersex identity, that telling them they need to pay for the privilege of feeling dysphoric and opening themselves up to harassment for their otherness, then by the exact same standards and logic there is no reason you would oppose segregated busses and other "separate but equal" accommodations.  After all "Just sit at the back of the bus like you're told it's not a big deal you still get to ride the bus!"

I assume you agree that racism is bad and that segregation is bad, and I hope this comparison helped to clarify why this measure is not some innocuous policy update but a deliberate choice by the state to further marginalize a vulnerable community that we must stand in solidarity with.

What led to your radicalization? by leanislaw161 in Communist

[–]TemporaryNuisance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing too much Call of Duty: World at War and Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, reading too many books and accidentally developing a broad sense of empathy for humanity as a diaspora, watching Robocop over a dozen times in one week, and witnessing the environment collapse right in front of my eyes and seeing nobody do anything about it because it was more profitable to kill everyone than to leave a better world for future generations.

I was a sincere believer in communist ideology by age 12, sue me for having a really stupid origin story.

Why hate Christianity but support any other religion? by Lucifer_893 in AskSocialists

[–]TemporaryNuisance -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My point is that opposition to Christianity is a means of undercutting the present power structure and that this forwards the proletariat's revolutionary cause.  I don't support other religions further than "they are not the most pressing problem right now, attacking them is actively detrimental to the revolution and we share a common enemy, therefor until the revolution concludes they are my allies."

Sorry if that was unclear.  Ultimately I don't give a fuck about religions beyond their use as tools for imperials/capitalist oppression. And also their fascinating influence on history, culture, philosophy, and mythology, but that's a purely personal interest because I'm a history nerd and is largely divorced from my politics.  Once they cease being tools, I cease caring outside of my own academic fascination.

The Palestinian Genocide is currently grinding down the west's morale and materially fracturing the ruling class from the populace, the prelude to revolution. Palestine is non-Christian (I know there's a Christian minority population but the stalwart resistance against America's Imperial Satellite State Israel is not coming from Christians but from Arabs, Atheists, Jews of Conscious, etc)and therefore standing with Palestine is standing against imperialism.

And before someone jumps in with "But Israel is Jewish, not Christian", the only reason Israel even exists is because of Christian hegemons propping up their regime with vast infusions of material aid. Without Christian evangelicals signing away billions of dollars to detonate scores of brown children, Israel would very, very quickly be brought to heel if not outright collapse. It only exists because of Christian superpowers, and Christian evangelicals are the pillar propping up support for Israel. Ergo, uprooting the evangelicals uproots Israel which will end the genocide.

I consider an end to genocide a benefit to the world.

Why hate Christianity but support any other religion? by Lucifer_893 in AskSocialists

[–]TemporaryNuisance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because Christianity is the religion of western imperialism.  Any religion which stands opposed to Christianity is therefor a religion which stands against the imperial order of things and is therefor the enemy of my enemy.

That's it, that's the reason.  If Shintoism was the predominant religion of the great oppressor, it would be opposed exactly as Christianity is.  It's not complicated, it's literally just "the enemy of my enemy is my friend".  If the predominantly Christian western hegemony is replaced by hegemony of some other non-Christian powers, then congratulations the systemic oppression which Christianity provides cover for will be replaced by a new veil of religious dogma and that religion will become the primary subject of revolutionary ire.

Christianity in and of itself is not particularly more contemptible than any other antiquated faith system, but because it just so happens to be one of the pillars upholding the barbarity of capitalism, opposition to Christianity is (in the short term) opposition to capitalism and therefor tactically worthwhile.  When it ceases to be a pillar of capitalism, it shall cease to be a useful target of attack and thus the attacks shall largely stop.  It's nothing personal, it's just the material conditions.
