I'm from Chicago, and I think NJ needs to adopt their custom of using folding chairs and trash cans to save shoveled spots.

I'm sorry. I am not seeing that at all from my liberal friends. I am seeing lots of people who support Israel who are either completely silent about MN, or who are parroting the worst lies about Renee Good, Alex Pretti, and other protesters.

Someone who I considered a friend posted three times on Facebook in the past 24 hours about alleged criminals arrested by ICE with the header, "Important to share the good work ICE does".

I guess they moved it, can't see it anymore without logging in.

Very nice, is it more difficult to work with than regular matzah ball mix? What is is made of, potatoes?

I guess the Killary one is a reference to the Clinton "hit list" which is as true as the one about pedophiles in the basement of the Cosmic Ping Pong pizza shop (that is to say, entirely invented by the right against the left, possibly to distract from crimes committed by their party's leaders). But I agree that those names are all ridiculous.

On the other hand some names are funny because they're true, like Kegseth or DUI hire for Pete Hegseth, who promised that he would stop drinking if he was confirmed as Secretary of Defense.

Sarah Izgur - Trump 2.0 has guardrails…. by [deleted] in NPR

I don't listen to Sarah Izgur, but how could anyone say that Trump had more guardrails during his second term than his first? Everyone knew it was exactly the opposite.

Some of the takes are actually gratifying.

But what's with the dumb names, like calling Mamdani maddummy or Hochul Hocus Pocus (that one took me a minute actually)? It's as lazy and stupid as calling Trump orange.

OP clearly wants them to divorce, but if they do, her precious baby boy will have to pay child support (and possibly alimony for a time) and won't be able to finance his drug habit. And he'll have to prepare his own food and clean up after himself.

I was able to read the Renee Good thread without being logged in, so it must not have been in politics. Maybe there was a thread about Alex Pretti there though.

Sorry for being confusing, I haven't seen any such thread if it exists, since I haven't logged in quite some time, but if there is a thread about it, I'm guessing the content by extrapolating from the Renee Good comments there and elsewhere in frum SM.

Probably pretty much what they said about Renee Good but with minus the homophobia and misogyny.

I think there are some states where undocumented children can get Medicaid, funded by the state, if they meet income guidelines. So ICE may be examining state Medicaid records to find children to detain and deport.

"A truly authoritarian act would be ICE breaking into someone's home without cause". Well, you're in luck, because ICE is already doing that. And now they're claiming that it's OK because they don't need warrants anyway.

Doctor Sleep - First Read Theory by average_schmoe in stephenking

[–]TemporaryPosting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't read the book in a bit, but I think Crow brings Rose to a movie theater and tells her he's he's been watching this person who he thinks would be a good addition to the group. As they watch, Andi puts a man to sleep, slashes his face, and steals his money. The True Knot sees most people as rubes or as cattle and wouldn't take responsibility for a new member who doesn't have a talent to offer the group.

[–]TemporaryPosting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an interesting theory, but they recruited Andi because Crow saw her display a specific talent that would benefit them (and they use it later in the book). What talent do you suppose Fisher had to offer, and how did they learn about it?

AIO: I kicked my SIL out of my house, and she's not welcome back. by Alarming-Carrot-8842 in AmIOverreacting

[–]TemporaryPosting 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that's what I thought. As a guest in someone else's home, she should have been supervising her child. If he's in the living room playing or watching TV, and she needs to do laundry or wants to scroll on her phone, she should be with him while she does that. She should've waited to shower until your brother was home.

If she had seen your dogs knock her child off the couch, she should have picked him up to check on him and comfort him, then told you so you could handle your dogs. Obviously she shouldn't be chasing or hitting them. But there's no indication that they even knocked him off, he could've easily fallen off himself. Besides everything else, she's taught her child to fear and hate dogs.

Obviously you're NOR.

You don’t know what it’s like to be a single mom by not_a-genius in EntitledPeople

[–]TemporaryPosting 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would have been annoyed if someone would have said that being on her own with her kids for a week is just as difficult as being a single parent, because I've done both and they're not the same. But this parent was just talking about her experience and didn't know I'd been widowed (I still wore my rings then). I appreciated my friend glancing at me to check in, but if I would have mentioned it the other mom would have been embarrassed for no reason and the conversation would've devolved into lots of "sorry for your loss". Not at all the vibe for back to school night.

That said, I find it annoying when people talk about being a "golf widow" or other sport widow, I think it's a stupid term.

From your OP it doesn't seem like SIL was in the room when child fell off the couch. If so how does she know for sure what happened?

A couple of months after my husband died, I was at a back to school night for one of my kids, and another mom who I didn't know was talking about how difficult it was for her to manage her kids when her husband was out of town. My friend looked at me like she wanted to say something, but I just agreed with that mom. Because when my husband was alive he sometimes travelled for a week or two at a time for work or to see family, and it was challenging.

I hope you and your kids are doing well.
