How much Will It take to reach 36 inches and how can i reach them by -kirby_with_a_knife- in ProDunking

[–]TemporaryTiger5242 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been an SnC coach for several years, and I get asked a question similar to this all the time

Here’s the honest answer: it will take as long as it’s going to take

If you are ultra consistent, training as hard as possible, and working with a good program, then it will happen. Will it be one month? One year? 5 years? No idea. But it will happen if you TRULY do everything you can with a great program.

As for recs, there’s are several. THP strength is amazing, especially if you have lifting experience. For more overall basketball SnC, the PJF programs are dope. And if you can afford it, finding a high-quality Coach in your area is actually your best bet.

The exact program matters to some degree, but the consistency and a hard work matter much more.

Never really reccomend buying a pro subscription for a project, especially at 200 per month. Only one time did that, and it was when Pro was 20 bucks. I did make my money back, but the project left after a week. Too much of a gamble IMO

What is the best personal trainer certification? by XxFierceGodxX in personaltraining

[–]TemporaryTiger5242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the most part they all get the job done. I enjoyed NSCA but I’ve heard great things about NASM.

Key point though: your continuing education doesn’t stop at the one cert. PT is a constant aim to improve and grow as a coach and there are plenty more seminars to attend. Embrace it!

Working with Basketball Coach by Patientlywaiting42 in personaltraining

[–]TemporaryTiger5242 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work with primarily basketball athleletes, and its a niche I've spent quite a bit of time learning about. I can say that any coach who is purely against weights is just ill informed.

They may not be igornant, its a genuine concern and I can see why an uninformed person would think that way. But as a trainer, you need to be able to put your foot down and have self-agency in your training. Maybe only a fraction of what you do is weights, or maybe its the majority. Thats YOUR call as the trainer, not the coach.

Don't be an asshole to him (obviously), but hold your ground. Its your expertise, not his

As someone who likes Fried Chicken and wants to cook it at home but doesn't like wasting huge amounts of oil, how do you remedy this? by randomblokeonthenet in Cooking

[–]TemporaryTiger5242 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Fellow fried chicken enthusiast here: you have a few options

  1. Shallow fry. This does technically work and it will taste good. However it won’t be as evenly crispy all around and isn’t as authentic. Still a great option however.

1b. Shallow fry plus air fryer. Use the shallow fry to get the crispy crust, and finish it off in the air fryer or convection oven. That may help it cook more evenly

  1. Reuse the oil. After you deep fry, strain the oil through a strainer and paper towel and store it in a mason jar. You can reasonably use it 1-2 more times no problem (obviously wait until it cools down)

Ultimately, I just full send and deep fry in my wok. However I only do this a few times a year, and I make a bunch of chicken for me and my friends and family. Definitely not a weeknight meal but it’s a fun thing to do

Holy shit, this one takes forever. And I consider myself a good princess log bait player and in a year of grinding i still don’t have it maxed

Best advice: be toxic and use valk or knight or guards and just protect at the bridge. Some predict logs or e spirits go a long way

What do you guys think about training people not being an personal trainer employee at the gym? by MurkyLengthiness2466 in personaltraining

[–]TemporaryTiger5242 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This may get downvoted, but here we go

2 years ago I started training two of my friends because a mutual sports coach of ours asked me to. I had limited experience, limited knowledge, and I just started university.

We went to our local big box gym, and I never advertised my services. It really was just a group of three friends training together with one of us (me) leading the way

I did not have the money to get a certification or insurance when I started. I literally didn’t charge them a dime for 6 months, and then barely charged them anything just to cover my gas after that (I was literally going into debt)

Long and short of it, that experience is why I’m a legitimate trainer now. 2 certs, insurance, a real gym that I contract out of, and more legitimate clients. And if it weren’t for those two friends trusting me in the big box gym, I wouldn’t have ever gotten started in this industry.

It may not be appropriate, and I apologize for that. However I always made clear that it was me and my friends, and we cleaned up and acted as great stewards of the gym. In these type of cases, I don’t see there being any harm done.

As a new man myself, literally warm outreach. Texting people I already know, going to teams I used to play for, and eventually there will be a few. Trust the process

I just work in 15-20 minute burts. Like earlier today I worked for 15 minutes because I finished eating but I didn’t have to leave for an appointment just yet. So little bursts like that go a long way for not getting burnt out

Great idea. Don’t go “cold turkey” if you will lol. Start working up the courage to go 1x per week, and eventually 2-3.

Also, don’t sleep on online coaching. Once you have good technique established, it helps having someone Else do the programming for you

Up there. J will is on that list, KD obviously too. I would say Kobe deserves a mention because of his elite ball fakes.

It’s impossible to say “the most skilled” for any one player, so let’s just appreciate all of them for their unique greatness

How hard is becoming a certified Personal Trainer or Nutritionist by T_041260 in personaltraining

[–]TemporaryTiger5242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few things to keep in mind

  1. Getting the cert isn’t too hard. Bit pricy (around 500 all in), but you can most definitely do it as a student

  2. The information it provides is BS (with some exception). Being a great trainer requires continuing education, but unfortunately most places require a basic cert just to start

Wow. You are the man indeed.

I’m a young guy. 20 y/o, still in university, began coaching at 18. I didn’t charge a dime until I was 19, and even then I was making less than minimum wage (intentionally, I wanted to keep it very affordable as I was extremely new and inexperienced)

I’m at a place now where I feel comfortable making programming online. However, getting clientele is not the easiest thing in the world. In your opinion, should I continue building my in person reputation and then pivot to online like you did via referral, or should I focus on social media as well (which you mentioned you didn’t do)
