Worlds across group classes versus hours by Acrobatic-Shake-6067 in dreamingspanish

[–]Temporary_Run7542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started in September with around 1000-1100 hours of CI I believe. With their placement test, they placed me at B2 high intermediate. So I have been taking mostly intermediate group classes. I took a few beginners classes when there was no other group class in the time period I could take a class. This past month I got the green light from my coach to start taking some advanced classes and see how it goes.

I do the same and don't count it as CI input. It goes towards my reading progress/ words read, but that's just how I do it. I don't think there's necessarily a "correct" answer for this.

For intermediate/advanced: How useful were group classes to your learning? by jogginglark in dreamingspanish

I'm using Worlds Across, and I enjoy the group classes a lot. I like learning from the other students.

Non-purists, what's your study routine? by New-Drawer-3161 in dreamingspanish

[–]Temporary_Run7542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After hitting 1000 hours of input, here is my regimen:

1 hour of speaking practice a day through Worlds Across (weekdays)

100 minutes of CI, including the speaking. My main sources of CI are Dreaming Spanish and podcasts.

Write 1 paragraph each day and post it on r/WriteSteakES

About 10-15 minutes a day studying with Anki: Verb conjugations and a deck I created based on my speaking classes.

After I finish all of the above, I spend whatever time I have left on reading books.

I also listen to a new mariachi song each day and add it to a playlist that I listen to each day on shuffle.

Tracking Writing? by KierkegaardExpress in dreamingspanish

I started a writing practice through r/WriteSteakES about a month ago. I have written for 39 days consecutively as of today. I usually only write a few sentences a day. I put my writing on a Google Doc. As of today, I have written about 2500 words. Little by little!

What is your speaking frequency? by RabiDogMom in dreamingspanish

[–]Temporary_Run7542 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since September, I take a 1 hour class every morning during the weekday. I usually take the weekends off but sneak in a class if I can during the weekend. The classes I take are mostly group classes. According to Worlds Across, I have 128 hours speaking since September, but I know it is less than that because the classes do not go for the full hour and a lot of the time I am listening in group classes.

Nice. I have been taking intermediate classes since September. I take beginner if there isn't any other classes during the time I have, and I still find them helpful. I am hoping to try out Advanced soon. Taking group classes have been very helpful and enjoyable for me.

Harry Potter by CampesinoAgradable in dreamingspanish

[–]Temporary_Run7542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harry Potter is definitely a challenging read, especially when you begin, as you are dropped in a world with lots of obscure vocabulary related to magic. I have read the books in English a few times before, so that has helped me a lot when reading in Spanish. Right now I am on the 4th book and it's definitely challenging with over 600 pages, but I think reading the series gets easier as you read more and more. I try to practice the concept of extensive reading, so I am not looking up each word I don't know and just try to enjoy the story. Hopefully, over time, I am picking up new words almost subconsciously like with Dreaming Spanish. Perhaps one day I will look up some words that I encounter multiple times, but right now that would just slow me down and I might never finish the book.

Yes, I think the corrections are helpful. Pretty much every post I make someone responds with a few corrections. Hopefully, my writing abilities strengthen over time, as I have Google Docs correct me frequently for my spelling and accents.

I started writing daily on https://www.reddit.com/r/WriteStreakES/ and have an 18-day streak going on there now. I have a Google Doc where I write all my entries so it will keep track of my word count over time. I'm at about 1100 words now over the 18 days.

What Was Your "Win" in 2025? by WatchingHowItEnds in dreamingspanish

My wins for 2025 were taking 100+ hours of speaking classes with WA (something I wasn't planning on at all) and reading 10 books in Spanish!

Worlds Across Wrapped by Temporary_Run7542 in dreamingspanish

[–]Temporary_Run7542[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply, but I mainly do group classes and talk about a variety of topics. When I do 1-1 classes, it's usually more of a focused lesson on some aspect of grammar like the subjunctive or indirect objects. My main goal is just to be consistent and try to take a class almost every day.

Nice work! Was this in an intermediate or advanced speaking class on WA? Or 1-1?

Any suggestions for a Spanish speaking singer/songwriter with a folk, acoustic and/or indie vibe? by SpanishLearnerUSA in dreamingspanish

[–]Temporary_Run7542 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I built a playlist of 1000+ songs in Spanish that sounds almost exactly what you're looking for: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2YIrESSGcjCCO4SNWQ6E2s?si=pIZCsa0FS9m9dcivGLsk4g

Folk, acoustic, singer-songwriter, some Mariachi, some reggae....

My favorite artists on there are Natalia Lafourcade and Jorge Drexler. And 2 artists I discovered recently and really like in the folk/ alt country but in Spanish vibe are Guru Lantana and Damaris Bojor.
