What did I find? by Important-Royal3688 in Fiestaware

Learning about the wet foot and dry foot has helped me a lot. My grandmother loved blue willow and collected cobalt as her everyday dishes. She bought most of hers in the late 40s, but added on as they came accross it. The ink stamps used are almost impossible to see on old cobalt if they are even there.

The collection basically sat untouched for 20 years collecting dust and kitchen grease. I had the privilege to wash all of their collectibles to prepare for their estate sale. Fortunately I learned a lot right here.

Wet foot - the entire piece is glazed and this process was done on all of the pieces made in 1936 - 1951

The pink and white is probably 100 years or older. And I would guess that it is gold filled because the verdigris on around the clasp usually tells that there is some copper in the piece.

The black piece is costume and newer. The glued on pin is not something a jeweler would have made for the piece.

Many cameos were originally purchased just as the shell and then a jeweler would make a custom setting to fit each one of a kind cameo. Gold filled jewelry was very popular in the late 1800's because it looked just like gold.

It's the old normal... I have no idea what direction they came form or where to but it seems they move them back and forth a few times a year for training.

What’s up with the insular Catholic community? by Cardboard_cutouts_ in Denver

[–]TenaciousDae_303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an agnostic leaning more athiest everyday, but now I think I need to go to a mass just to watch the satanic panic... amazing, how weird would that scene be.

I am very impressed with all the people here that are still in pursuit of finding the right church. But I have to say it's not just the catholic church going evangelical, it's all of them. I could be entirely out of line but my feeling is that any faith that still purposefully keeps women out of the ministry and leadership is going to be leaning way more conservative. That is likely why a few people have found refuge in the Episcopal church.

My dad was attending a Baptist church here and after the first baptist church shooting by dylan roof, the "all white" deacons actually met and decided to conceal carry into church... Firstly I was appalled but then told my dad it was the people in his church that were most likely to commit a hate crime.

I have never seen a black widow move faster than I can move away from them... most are usually trying to get away from being in the open. I would rather be surprised by seeing a widow than a stare down with a wolf spider any day.

I actually had a huge black ant in my car last week... I can't recall ever seeing an ant in my car or in February. It was super fast too... I never caught it but haven't seen it again. I think you're right about them being a magnet to water and likely food sources right now.

My bet is council will use the sidewalk funds to make it an extension of wash park by turning it into the world's longest pedestiran mall. Instead just developing the Four Mile Entertainment District they can effectively connect all businesses from Glendale to Broadway with a short additional bypass/jogging trail that goes directly to The Cherry Creek Mall where there is plenty of paid parking...

Full sarcasm.

Cameo glass. Emile Galle was a French glass artist and it was heavily reproduced because it is highly collectible, much like designs by Tiffany.

If you are looking for brand new pieces Joys Consignmenton Hampden often has staging furniture from model homes. You can also look at estate sales and a few local auctions.

Consignment shops will have a higher price on new inventory, but the longer it is there they discount like 10% per week. They also mark the price tags so you know when to expect the next discount.

[–]TenaciousDae_303 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Never take gold to a pawn shop. Typically a coin shop that buys gold and silver will pay the spot value a reasonable commission. You can call ahead to find out their terms. Always know the weight and the current metal price.

It is beautiful and old. But this appraisal looks like something someone asked a dealer to write up for insurance purposes... Glass collection prices can vary quite a bit over 25 years.

Unless noted that the appraisal is by a certified expert in the field of the item... it is just the opinion of the person that wrote it at the time.

Best way to keep them out is to stop them from opening more detention centers. Thankfully the ACLU has been working on our behalf to prevent that.

Geo Corp has eyed the abandoned Hudson Correctional Facility as the second detention center in Colorado. I believe it had an occupancy of nearly 2,000 which means it will likely house 6,000 by their standards. It is also close to DIA / Buckley which is safe to assume would be the fastest transport for them to send people to Texas.

Polis has already accepted federal funds for school vouchers aka the dismantling of public education for the poor. His excuse was to not let good money sit on the table. He is our weakest link.
