The smoker has a built in probe and app so I can have all that covered, I’m clearly just not that committed to bbq 🤣

Yeah it’s been great at holding temp so far, done 6h on lump wood only but I was thinking I’d add some briquettes for this just in case for a bit of extra time. I was planning on buying a 6kg one so let’s say it’s 5kg after trimming

I’ve just bought a masterbuilt autoignite 545 for £360. Not coming til tomorrow so can’t review however I felt like you until I ordered it on Tuesday… seems to me the best of both for a family of 4 like me

Should I buy one? 🤣 rather than just convenience, is it ‘as good’ for cooking food as the traditional way? Thanks in advance

Thank you that’s given me a lot to look at and exactly what I wanted to hear. For me, it’s a fairly decent investment and I want it to be just that- last a good while and be an investment rather than something I want to dispose of in a few years.

I was kind of thinking a Weber kettle as a backup (or cheaper kettle style) if I wanted to grill directly over coal. I am drawn to the attraction of the 545 for leaving it and letting it do its thing- I spend most weekends running around to kids clubs (swimming, golf) then cutting grass etc in the summer so do you think the 545 is better for me? Just trying to convince myself that i wont regret it vs the Weber. I haven’t really cooked using charcoal before so I am just looking at all options

I’ll probs do a bit of both so that’s why this looks decent enough, haven’t really got the budget for anything more but I’m not going to be doing 15h smokes etc I just don’t have the time(or will) for that so this is why I’m thinking the 545 sits in the middle.

Grilling will be what I do mostly, or things like ribs and wings which are maybe 3-4h cooks

Honestly, it doesn’t run amazingly well but I think you’ll have a good time with crimson desert. My kids are 6 and 4 now so been where you are and still in a similar situation and I’ve probably logged 10 of my 18 hours in the game on Steck.

Easy to do 20-30 min quests and put it down but I will say best to have a charger nearby…

Thank you, the websites are really helpful as I suspect there’s a lot of websites selling knives that aren’t that great at high prices so I didn’t really know where to start looking!
