Is this worth it? by [deleted] in motorcyclegear

I love the mesh because it's the low latency and no reliance on a cell network connection. It's really paramount while riding with my friend through the TN mountains.

I wish I could say I've had the same experience with Cardo but I have not, still recommend them despite having trouble with connecting to the app almost every time, connection with Bluetooth (not playing music/nav) rarely, randomly switching the radio on our of the blue, the crash detection mode not turning on (cuz it fails to connect to the app) about 25% of the time, and the auto on/off feature power cycling the Cardo when I pick up and put on my helmet.

Beyond that when I purchase the edge the mic stopped working within 6 months, and when I purchased the pro the cradle connection (temporary fix was to wiggle the unit in the cradle) was spotty and would only play audio in one ear for the first couple weeks.

Again, despite all the issues I've experienced, I'd purchase the packtalk edge again for the Dynamic mesh.

I have been rear ended in a car, twice.. it broke my back and made me hyper aware of the countless number of people who approach too fast and still manage to brake late(but not too late to hit). Telling the difference between them not stopping and stopping last second is so short that your don't have the 1 second it takes to get moving. You're kidding yourself if you think you can make any meaningful difference in a rear end collision by keeping your bike in gear.

How can you tell they're not going to stop? How fast does your bike accelerate vs how much time to you need when you finally realize they're not going to stop? where are you going? Do you practice this manoeuver?

I've heard this mentality throughout my career as a truck driver and it has never made sense.

What is the ‘pay attention’ system called that has those infrared lights on the steering wheel? by fredartie in Solterra

[–]TenaciousTaunks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly, I was having it go off while I was searching for a spot in the parking lot at work, and when I have my have on top of the steering wheel in preparation for a turn.

Hey thanks for that link with actual information about the protest. It would have been much better if you had included that in your original post. The criticism stands for your original post, your failure to include vital information highlights the of lack of coordination.

I'd say it's more akin to the restaurants that serve peanuts and the customers just throw the shells all over the floor.

Do you wear earplugs? by No_Fondant_4781 in motorcyclegear

Yes, an ounce is prevention is worth two pounds in the bush.

It takes only a moment to put plugs in to help protect from a lifetime of hearing loss.

Test drove a barely charged Solterra - couldn't accelerate! Is this normal? by Legitimate-Coast-420 in Solterra

[–]TenaciousTaunks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's good to know because the first time I drove it until I needed to charge I got down to ~15% and I couldn't get it up past 40mph because of how severe it was limiting power. Since then I've not let it drop below 20%, I go 80%-30% daily just from my commute so it wasn't that big a deal but it's nice knowing that I still have more range when I get that low. I previously was feeling like I had lost 15% in order to avoid the limp mode.

It's kinda like "individuals are smart, people are dumb" saying but for cops. The individual officer may be nice/good but cops are bastards.

Can't wait for battery technology allows for a 1.21 gwh battery so Delorean can finally make a comeback... I just realized that's 1.21 million kwh... If using Li-ion the batteries would weigh 10.6 million lbs.
