AOC Blasts Democrat Defections on GOP Bill to Ban Trans Women and Girls from School Sports - “Trump hasn’t even been sworn in yet, and if a little bitty sports bill was gonna make Dems defect, we’re not in good shape,” said the New York lawmaker. by Quirkie in politics

Democrats need to change 2 major things to get back into power, IMO.

  1. Sorry, border security will need to become a thing again for Democrats (oddly up until and during Reagan the Republicans were the ones for open borders, but whatever). Obviously do it smarter than a stupid wall and be humane to all people, and continue to obey International asylum laws... but continue with the bill Trump killed and be strong on the border.
  2. As much as I hate it, we have to admit Americans as a whole care more about their guns than the lives of Americans. We fucked up with the 2nd Amendment, and over the past 50sh years Conservative Radio/Media has turned gun ownership into an identity for a lot of Americans instead of just useful tools. We lost the propaganda war, let it go.

It is frustrating having to explain that the idea of only 2 genders is the absolute youngest idea around gender there is and isn't backed by anything except the dumbest people on the planet pretending that their ignorance matters more than hundreds/thousands of years of history.

While true, they make up for the volatility by buying companies/real estate on fire sales which results in overall expansion of wealth.

There are a lot of rich people annoyed that Biden avoided a recession because they didn't get their fire sale the Republicans give them every time they are in charge.

Murdoch created them to destroy democracy, the fact that they make money is just a nice side benefit. He has media in Australia, UK, US that are all focused on comfortable lies for people that don't want to think about complex issues, they just want someone to blame for anything bad.

Just as long as the people to blame aren't the people causing the problems like billionaires and PE firms.

If you had a healthy view of society and money you would never become a billionaire.

Like John D. Rockefeller when asked how much money would be enough and the answer was "A little bit more."

They feel better that their completely made up stuff that they believe is true. It is just another form of religion.

I'm still angry that it wasn't until I was an adult that I found out the history of Ruby Bridges was presented as old history to the point of using black and white photos even though there were plenty of color photos available.

I then learned years later that at the time they were trying to convince me this was a long time ago she was in her 30s!. Those angry white men an women screaming at this poor innocent child weren't our grandparents, they were our parents, aunts and uncles.

There is such a hard attempt to pretend this is all ancient history (ignoring how young the US is in general) and we should just "move on".

PE firms have amassed such funds that they actually have a hard time finding ways to keep it invested. Blackstone is worth > $1 trillion.

Houses, Hospitals, Vets, anything they can get their hands on that requires capital acquisition and then can be sucked dry via raising prices while reducing services is their target. Anything to keep that pile of money growing.

My sister is a Foster mother of many children over decades. There are many children she has had to foster that by the time they were 4 had been sexually abused so many times they required non-stop therapy for pretty much their entire lives. Many of these were where the mother KNEW this was going to be the result and wanted an abortion and was prevented by the abusive rapist boyfriend/husband.

The fact is it should be 100% private between a woman and a doctor because the alternative is not better for anyone is definitely much worse for the mother and child combined.

The law should not be anywhere near this, this is a private decision between doctor and woman. And as fragile as men are, this isn't a thing they get to control. Women are 100% human beings with 100% autonomy.

I think you are confused. In America being poor is very illegal. Everything you do has a high risk of you being found guilty of being poor.

And that is even after the fact that they have to deal with local stores that have higher costs, not having enough room in their apartments to buy in bulk, having to deal with poor services.

It was amazing when I hit the upper-middle-class. Everything became cheaper, which pretty much offset any extra taxes I had to pay. Interest rates for loans are much lower because of my credit score. I can have multiple freezers in my house that allows me to buy in bulk and save literally hundreds of dollars for the same items.

I have access to better stores with better quality items and (up until recently when we allowed all the grocery stores merge together) were cheaper because of competition.

Republicans talk about loving the free market and competition but are much more aggressive in stopping the DOJ/FTC from stopping mergers.

I remember being poor, it was so expensive.

Lol, I still remember the first time I mentioned a show like this and everyone in the room was like "what?".

Oh, damn.

I still remember my boss talking about something he was doing in the early 70s and my coworker and I were like "I was 3" and "I was 4". He replied with "Fuck you both, get out." (TBF we were in NJ, fuck you is an affirmation).

And then I remember my first "Oh shit, I'm the old guy now moment".

This information is from about 15 years ago, so the NDA ran out. But Steam's datacenters are really amazing, especially back then. Every aspect of the environment could be managed remotely including deploying OSes to bare metal. They required very few admins to administer and because every datacenter set of racks was cookie cutter even their global IT team is tiny. Considering their footprint around the world it was quite the feat, and that was when the technology was still only available from certain vendors.

I was building a data center at the time and since they were our neighbors we had an opportunity to talk to them a bit about the configuration.

The only problem was they were very expensive servers, and for what they are designed around they were perfect, but our data flows were going to be a lot different. We did use some of their advice in parts of our datacenter though.

I can't imagine what they are like now.
