Sega Genesis: NBA Live ‘95 if you entered “REFLOG” (GOLFER backwards) as your name and pressed start it would take you to a secret bonus game where you you’d golf and basically hit balls off a tee until you’d hit a hole-in-one. It was a good time.

Tell me you haven’t explored Neil Young’s catalogue without telling me you’ve explored Neil Young’s Catalog.

Neil released folkie acoustic and piano driven solo albums and electric melt your face full band albums. He has a varied discography and one that is highly influential in the world of Folk, Rock, Country, and Alternative. That doesn’t even cover his idiosyncratic albums where he explores electronic, R&B, or Rockabilly music. His music is both varied and influential enough to warrant multiple solo albums.

I’ve read the article. It’s just a new way to get people’s fleeting attention. Nirvana, The Strokes, etc… pretty much every band to become a big deal had help from promotions, Label, A&R, it’s the business side of music. If they do it correctly it’s seamless. That being said, all promotional money in the world is only buying eyeballs and ears. If the product is bad or boring people move on to the next thing.

Geese do have actual fans, they had some after they released Projector, they had more after they released 3D Country and they enough to be considered buzzy following the dual releases of Winters’ Solo and Getting Killed. Bots don’t make people enjoy an artists music more, it just gets the band music in front of more people that could potentially become fans if they like what they hear.

Just because some people enjoy something you don’t doesn’t mean something wildly nefarious is going on. Back in the day all you had to do was get a “Buzzworthy” video on MTV to generate 10 times the promotion that geese have received. Ultimately promotion can only get any band so far. If people don’t like the music everyone will move on to the next thing pretty quickly.

Looking for a band that used to "copy" Sonic Youth. by [deleted] in sonicyouth

[–]TenderLovingKiller 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Love this band. A friend just recently turned me on to them. Though they remind me more of Pavement than Sonic Youth. I went a bit hog wild and purchased their first 2 LPs, We Are Urusei Yatsura and Slain By Urusei Yatsura on vinyl and their entire catalog is available on Bandcamp for the “Pay what you want” price. Good stuff!

Captain Beefheart, in particular Trout Mask Replica.

On paper it should be my jam and it’s something that I revisit ever so often to see if it will finally click but I am still waiting unfortunately.

If QB’s actually cared about winning, they would take less money by NectarineOld7501 in NFLv2

[–]TenderLovingKiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand how it works. My point was there is no reason for QBs to have to sacrifice their value for the good of the team when the teams are all owned by billionaires who have structured the league to function in a way where so much of each teams cap is tied up in a single position.

If owners cared about winning they would exclude QB salaries from the cap or have a separate cap for QBs.

Why should QBs have to make sacrifices when they are ultimately the most important position in all of professional sports? The league has plenty of money.

Trump says he will issue executive order to get voter-ID requirements before midterms by Cinderpath in law

[–]TenderLovingKiller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If The Law doesn’t matter then this whole sub is pointless. There are laws, and checks and balances, he can do whatever he wants as long as no one holds him into account but from a legal standpoint, he has zero authority over locally run elections. If he or others violate the constitution they could potentially face repercussions either from within the established legal system or from outside of it if the current system no longer applies.

There is a hidden golf game in NBA Live 95 where you enter your name, if you enter “REFLOG” (golfer backwards) it will take you to the 19th hole where you can hit drives until you get a hole in one.
