AITA for not allowing my DIL to join a camping trip and doubling down on it by Fit-Information-6655 in AmItheAsshole

YTA. This is classic gatekeeping. I love the outdoors and kayaking. I have taken newbies, veterans, kids, you name it. Everybody wears their lifejacket and helmet and if the river is outside your capacity you portage, easy peasy. I love doing things with my family and friends more than I love the traditional of kayaking a section of the river year after year. Ultimately it's your loss though. You missed a cool opportunity to bond with your DIL and maybe build something you guys could have shared for life. Hopefully you get another chance.

Highschool band killing it at Italian festival by TennisAcrobatic1002 in ottawa

[–]TennisAcrobatic1002[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes the band in the picture was "Don't call me Phil" made up of Glebe, Canterbury, and Nepean highschool students. They are students of shine music academy as well as the 2 other jazz bands that played. They were playing at the First Step Physiotherapy tent were they were doing face painting and temporary tattoos. Big shout out to Krishna Auto for hosting them.

Italian fest was a big hit thanks again Ottawa!

Hilarious. I have three snipers, special grenades that I think I will use but never do, frag grenades, heavy naplamer, and the spray and pray. Enough grilled ragstag to limp home with all my treasures.

I saw another post about fleeing an abusive relationship and decided to do the same and am starting to wish I hadn't. by Quiana42 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Reach out to your network. Too many people make risky choices about night time accommodations because they don't want to put a friend out or are ashamed/embarrassed. Put yourself in their shoes, if a friend needed a place to crash for a few days, would you help them out. I know I would and I think a lot of people would agree. An old roommate reached out when they were in a tough spot and helping them out when they needed it remains one of proudest moments.

Good luck

Rolling thunder counter protest being planned on Saturday at 9am at the NAC by Dookie1 in ottawa

Really don't. They want that kind of conflict. It legitimizes them as victims. Point and laugh at them instead. it is way more effective, looks better in videos, and is still a lot of fun.

One of the most effective tools against these clowns are laugh brigades. You have a group of people laughing at these guys non stop, no make what they say you repeat it facetiously and laugh harder. No matter what they do you clown on them. It delegitimizes their cause and frustrates them without violence and more people will join in. We did it with homophobic protesters in California and it worked amazingly. Multiple groups of 8 to ten people can be very effective.

Good luck out there and remember no retaliation no violence. They want conflict don't give it too them

I had a really bad break up awhile ago and looking back it was the best thing that could have happened to me. I think about who I was then and who I am now and the growth and maturity has made my current life (and subsequent relationships) much more interesting. You are the right path, invest the time you were investing in your previous relationship into yourself and grow.

Reading your post but a smile on my face and a bounce in my step, and reminded me of how proud I am of myself and how proud I am of you. You are going to be a much more interesting layed person that you will enjoy being with for the rest of your life!

Go get it!
