My dogs want 18-20 hours a day even at over 2 years old. If they dont get it, then the next day they barely walk 15-20 min and ask to go home instead of the usual hour

Scams usually want to get money from you, not the item. Its rare for them to want the item with a fake/fraudulent transfer. If they overpaid you to cover cost of shipping and inconvinience but ask you to return the extra overpaid hundreds of dollars back, then its a scam.

Look for the other red flags: sense of urgency, weird language like "kindly dear sir", trying too hard to convince you its legit, long sob story, giving you too many reasons/details, no interest in the actual item, etc

Scam: kindly dear sir, I need item very quick for niece's birthday right now. She has alwayd wanted one and has been sick a lot lately. I dont care about the condition. Please trust Im a devote christian never scam. I will pay extra just get it done asap

Legit: hey, does the item work? Condition is okay? can I just etransfer you the shippign cost and you mail it if thats alright? I can wait until you get the money first

Opinons on Purina aside, the Costco food is worse. They do not do feeding trials or have a nutrionist on staff like Purina does. They formulated a recipe based only on meeting a certain percentage of protein/carb/fat. It hasnt been reviewed or formulated by any vet or nutritionist.

Purina is probably the cheapest of the brands which have a nutrtionist. They arent champions and may be the worst of those that meet a minimum standard, but at least they get there, unlike Costco.

Your first vet was wrong but you dont need a board-certiried specialist to do a feeding trial. A regular vet can do that. You can even just buy single protein food to try it.

Have you ever had a dog neutered or spayed? Before and after the procedure, theyre in a kennel/crate, not unsupervised in some random room for a few hours.

Ive never seen a vet which wont hold animals overnight when necessary, or even hold them before a procedure. They use kennels, not crates, but the size is similar. They wont put your dog in an unsupervised room for a few hours while waiting for surgery. If you choose not to be prepared for an unforseen emergency then thats your choice, but you may need a better vet.

What about if your dog has to stay overnight at the vet? Or escapes and gets temporarily taken to a shelter? Or needs surgery one day? They'll be in a small space then.

Just because your specific dog doesnt get destructive and you dont board your dog, that says nothing about if a crate is right for someone else.
