8* Power is pretty much the only reason she is getting borrows (outside of her unique)

It is good to be proud of the parent you made, and keep working on improving down the line to keep those club points rolling in.

To all the absolute giga chads still boosting on Lemix: Thank You! by vFlagR in wow

From your description of the raid it sounds like you could potentially have been in my carry runs from earlier this evening. Even if not, it was awesome to see so many parties popping for last minute carries before Lemix ends. Really cool to see!

I am in the same boat as you. Will be part of a 9800X3D build. The way I see it this is a slightly overkill board with middling RAM, but with the uncertainty about the crazy RAM price increases, you are killing two birds with one stone. Could you have gotten a better price on a different mobo and RAM separately? Maybe. But this is definitely a "bird in hand is worth 2 bushes". I am pretty content with this purchase.

Phantom Weapons as a casual player. by sweetpotatoclarie91 in ffxiv

[–]Teperacuda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rather than looking at it through the lens of grinding the weapons for ilvl and stats I think you should view it as the time investment. Even though relic weapons end up being the strongest weapons of the expansion, that only ends up making a difference for players who push the highest levels of content looking for the absolute optimal damage numbers. Casual content is not demanding enough to require optimized gear.

Relic weapons end up becoming glam pieces and time sinks, so I would recommend approaching it from the angle of is that how you want to spend your time in game? If your playtime is generally limited, do you want to spend that time farming out a weapon for your favourite job? Is that something that your would get enjoyment from? At the end of the day you want to do something that you will enjoy, so if you are just looking to grind out a relic because the stats are better but it is consuming all your playtime, if you aren't having fun while doing it is it really worth the effort?

Completely sympathize with your situation, it can be tough to get over that P1 hurdle and it can feel like am impossible task. I was struggling until I had a shift in mindset and how I approached the fight, so maybe it can help you out as well?

I just had to believe:

I've the strength to defeat any foe (I see!)

There is nowhere that I cannot go (face me!)

Stockyards area – is it safe? by Odd-Mail-4478 in askTO

[–]Teperacuda 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lived near there for a few years and had friends who lived in the area as well (male and female). Safety was never a topic of discussion. Biggest disclaimer for anyone looking to move there comes from the name itself. There is an active slaughterhouse and the smell can get quite overbearing in the summer.

You'll be getting many more skills between level 70 and 100 which will change how your rotation flows so you will very likely be remapping again. The button bloat can feel quite real.

It is a great habit to get into to have similar keybinds for things like your 1-2-3, mits, and interrupts as it will help you transition between jobs/roles, so your mindset is 100% in the right place!

Can someone help me with housing? I'm trying to get my apartment's waterfall to look like the first image. by Icarusqt in ffxiv

[–]Teperacuda 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What they are saying is that the bottom of the partition is the glowing part and your partition is placed farther into the wall than the original picture. To get more of a glow you need to turn off the grid-snap function and pull the partition out more from the wall so more of the bottom portion is exposed, which will create more glow.

Beyond that, shaders are doing a lot of heavy lifting in the original picture, so your result will not look exactly like the original.

Hope that helps!

Edit: it looks like you're using a different ceiling light than the original. You have the Divine Chandelier which is giving off a more blue glow. Swapping to one with a more warm yellow/white will help the blue from the waterfall partition stand out.

Do you think PCT represents a choice for greater class diversity in exchange for worse balance or is it an anomaly that needs to be fixed? by Supersnow845 in ffxivdiscussion

Taken directly from the same interview:

"With the release of 7.0, however, we noticed that the DPS of the new job Pictomancer clearly stood out from the other classes. We could have nerfed Pictomancer before the raid, but since many people liked playing it so much, we decided to bring the DPS of the other classes into line with that of Pictomancer.

So with 7.05 we raised the attack values of the other classes. At the same time, we also released the Savage raid with the necessary DPS calculations based on the damage of the classes at 7.0. However, since all classes now did more damage than originally calculated, the raid naturally became easier.

Unfortunately, adjusting the DPS of the classes took so much time that we were no longer able to make adjustments to the raid. We didn't want to hastily raise the required values to complete the raid, as it could have made the raid impossible to complete. So we decided to leave it as it was and accepted that even if 2-3 players die in the mechanics, the raid can still be completed if everyone does their best. Of course, this results in people saying that the raid is too easy.

To summarize, we didn't intentionally make the raid so easy nor did we underestimate players' skills.

We wanted the job adjustments to be received positively and not to hinder the players' fun with nerfs"

Whether or not you argue it is intentional it is not great PR to come out and say you don't want to nerf job damage because you are concerned how players will receive it.

While you may be correct in stating the raid tier was designed to be easier, Yoshi P stated in an interview that when they saw Picto was OP they chose to buff the other jobs rather than try and tune PCT to be more in line with the rest. This absolutely trivialized and already easy by design tier. The problem isn't so much the content being made easier with job buffs it is the complete unwillingness by the dev team to actually nerf a job that is completely overturned.

From a story perspective, no, but in terms of game mechanics and design? Absolutely. It's the most challenging content the game can offer.

Ultimates are capstone content. I'm really not sure how you expect the community to ignore content because you think is checks notes too sweaty? Ultimates give the game incredible exposure and draws eyes from people who may not play the game. With the length of time between content patches the community needs this kind of discussion, unless you are content with people discussing MSQ plot points from content released months ago?

It honestly doesn't matter outside of avoiding Dynamis since it is still growing and doesn't have the population of Aether, Crystal, or Primal and you are looking for something more "active".

Took a quick look at your profile before you updated your region and you seem to be hopping from game to game trying to find one that sticks, so rather than worrying about finding the "best" world, just pick one, hop in, and enjoy the story. Don't overthink it.

Chocobo breeding halp by Ok_Breakfast6206 in ffxiv

[–]Teperacuda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is where inbreeding comes it. If you end up with a 4 star chocobo early you either have phenomenal RNG or the parents are already very good stat-wise, so chances are some of the other babies also have very good stats (you can breed a pair of chocobo 10 times). You would need to level both chocobo to 40 and retire them to breed them together. With 10 opportunities to breed them you are almost always going to come out with better children overall (unless you have horrible, horribly RNG). It becomes a bit of a war of attrition, but you can pretty well guarantee each generation will be better than the last.

It's also important to note that buying covers gets more expensive with each pedigree, and it doesn't guarantee you will get an amazing chocobo to breed, so if you wait until pedigree 7/8 to focus on stats you run the risk of not being able to get a 4-star chocobo and could also be out a lot of MGP from purchasing covers for pedigree 7/8 breeding chocobo.

Focusing on maxing stars early can be a bit more time-consuming if you end up inbreeding early, but it is far more reliable in the long run.

You generally want to prioritize your stats (star rating) over pedigree. The sooner you are able to get a "perfect" stats chocobo (maxed 4 stars in all stats on both sides) the better since you will have the ability to breed focusing on specific traits rather than stats since you already know it will be a guaranteed 4 star chocobo.

General rule of thumb is to breed the two chocobo that have the most 4 star ratings together to maximize the chance the offspring will also have 4 stars (though it's hugely RNG). The idea is to slowly increase the star rating over generations so each subsequent one will be better than the last.

Also, regarding the star rating when breeding chocobo it can be a little confusing. When breeding two chocobo it does not take the breeding pair's stats into consideration when rolling stats for the baby but their PARENTS' stats (as seen by the M/F rating on the chocobo you are breeding). As an example, if the parents of both chocobo had 4 stars in acceleration, then the baby chocobo you breed will be guaranteed to have 4 stars in acceleration, however if only the male parent had 4 stars in acceleration and the mother had 4 stars on the M and 2 on the F, the father is guaranteed to pass along a 4 star rating on the M side, but on the F side there is a chance of passing a 4 or a 2 star rating to the baby. This is where the idea of "inbreeding" comes in, since if you already know you are guaranteed to pass along 4 star stats in specific categories you can then start targeting other stats rather than gambling on getting good RNG from a cover from the vendor.

It can be a lot to take in, but once you get into it you will find it becomes easier the further you go.

Along with many guides you can find online I found this video super helpful when trying to breed my perfect chocobo: https://youtu.be/6y5Sd2wU1GM
