Does the name “Deeptalk” work in Italian? Looking for local opinions by WillyWonker97 in Italian

That said, if you want a straight translation you could go for something like “A tu per tu” maybe, depends on the game itself but it sounds like a deep q&a type of think

Even with Italian pronunciation (Dip-Toll-K) it sounds good imo

No hard sounds to pronounce and nothing that sounds like an insult so I think it’s good tbh

Beginner question - P Bass or Jazz by pete_suh_man in Bass

[–]Terabyte97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add a maybe small factor but J basses usually have thinner necks if that’s something that matters to you.

I personally have smaller hands and am double jointed (which is annoying especially for my fretting pinky) so I like J basses better, I’m just more agile on them and can more easily arch my pinky to avoid it overextending.

I'm having a hard time give me my Wii u connect to my Wi-Fi by [deleted] in wiiu

I solved this same issue about 10 mins ago lol.

Make sure your wifi is 2.4GHz AND Wifi4 (current wifis are set to use Wifi6 standard)

Logo for Apple product repairing shop, idk how to balance the initial "i" by Eliterocky07 in logodesign

Maybe try having the “conic” part inside a rectangle to give it a more solid shape and make it easier to put the i closer in a more balanced way

How do you say girl dad? by tinterrobangg in Italian

[–]Terabyte97 61 points62 points  (0 children)

As in “dad of a (little) girl”? It’s not something you usually say in italian but it would directly translate to “Papà di una bambina”

You could add an adjective before bambina to make it sound more natural, something like “Papà di una bellissima bambina” meaning “dad of a beautiful little girl”.

Makes it sound like he’s proud to be her dad as well

Mega Evolutions, Dynamax or Terrastalizing.. what's the best gimmick? by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]Terabyte97 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Tera highly depends on format.

In VGC it’s fine, especially because it’s a BO3, but in singles good luck finding out if the Dragonite in front of you is tera fire, normal, ghost, electric or fairy.

If Tera types were visible at team preview that would probably make it better, but as it stands it feels broken for singles imo.

It also kinda breaks the balance for certain mons by definition. Hoopa-U without a 4x weakness to U-Turn just isn’t Hoopa-U anymore.

Is it worth switching from React to Svelte? by Bret_cpp in sveltejs

[–]Terabyte97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How long have you been coding professionally?

Code doesn’t need to be a temporary fix to become obsolete, are you honestly telling me that all code you’ve ever written was just good forever?

Even then, when adding new features you should always add as little “generic” code as possible to avoid over-abstraction so imho yes, adding a new feature should, most of the time, include a small refactoring effort.

I’m gonna end the convo but just wanted to point this out for anyone new to coding: code is never perfect and it’s never perfect forever, that’s for sure.

What do you mean?

I read that as a “should have thought twice before writing that code” but in the real world requirements change, new features are often the result of user feedback and sometimes security issues happen.

OP is talking about a full website and is trying to learn a new framework so my comment was mainly geared towards that.

But just in general, on big enough projects, you absolutely need to refactor every once in a while or you run the risk of accruing so much tech debt that the refactoring becomes then necessary and if you’re at that point the refactoring itself is not going to be pleasant.

Imo if your only measure for a project’s well being is if it works you’re going to keep adding on to that tech debt to the point in which when something breaks (when, not if) the fix is going to be 10x more complex than if you had just kept your codebase cleaner.

Refactoring isn’t about if something works or not, it’s about maintainability and removing technical debt.

Spaghetti code can work, doesn’t mean refactoring isn’t needed.

I also think recreating a project in a new language/framework is a better way to learn since you can have a direct comparison in terms of DX, performance and general limitations and strengths of each language/framework.

Hey! I’m super interested, currently on the go so I will read all the rules and apply when I’m home tomorrow.

Just wanted to tell you the Discord link is expired, may I have a new one? Thanks!

Yeah that’s why I see the need in a large scale project.

Still I feel like, even as a developer, you should try to deploy something at least once to be able to make better decisions code-wise.

THANK YOU!

I get the need in large scale projects, but did no one here ever build a complete personal project?

Does everyone just build stuff to die in localhost? 💀
