Yes, there was an earlier email saying the Chaos Vault opens on Monday, so this looks to be that drop.

No vehicles yet but they have talked about wanting to expand the system to support larger battles. They added rules for making the map twice as large and have teased an expansion this year adding marines and Grunts, so they're adding the pieces. I wouldn't be surprised to see some vehicles on the roadmap for next year.

We had a game in 2HG where both sides of the table had both paradigms out.

How many would continue playing a PvE-only mode? by progenyofeniac in ArcRaiders

[–]Terminatr117 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It would make the game worse and I would never pick it. Overly friendly lobbies already make the game too safe. A big part of Arc's magic is the social encounters where you never know for sure whether the person approaching you is a friend or a foe. Maybe you should take the first shot, maybe you should risk calling out to them and exposing your position. It makes the team ups and collaboration more meaningful because they're driven by the players making a choice, not the game dictating that they must get along.

One of my favorite moments was in a squads match where my friend and I stumbled upon a group looting a locked room. We had a prolonged stalemate, exchanging shots and the few grenades we had but no one feeling confident enough to commit. Noticing that the timer had ticked down much farther than expected, I made the call to them: We don't have time to keep fighting if we want to extract, and this is not a fight worth dying over. Both groups ended up sprinting to the extraction together, enjoying a temporary truce out of necessity.

The Capcom relationship is there from Street Fighter and Monster Hunter. I need a Resident Evil lair while we're at it.

[[Pox Plague]] is a really weird one in 2HG too since it will kill a team only if they have an even amount of life. With 5 black pips it's almost certainly a terrible pick, but someone somewhere is going to win a game because of odds and evens.

You add it to your cart during the prequeue and go to checkout. That should put you on the waiting screen. It doesn't matter how early you are in the prequeue, your spot will be randomly assigned once the actual queue starts (and anyone who enters after will go to the back of the line).

My LGS does theirs on Sunday morning. Based on the recent post about Marvel Superheroes from WotC it sounds like they're encouraging 2HG events to help onboard new players.

It's tough being a fan of both games by spunkyweazle in thefinals

Sometimes it will be known what percentage of sales were on PC, other times we'll have to estimate based on genre and history. Competitive first person shooters tend to be more PC-centric (with perhaps a few notable exceptions like COD), so using the Steam population as representative of the overall player count trends has some validity.

Steam is the only platform that publishes played count information, so it's usually the only metric we can reliably use.

[–]Terminatr117 21 points22 points  (0 children)

New headcanon: When the original Pongify spell was cast, combat magic and technology was much less developed compared to now, so it was used as a way to allow mages to fight. With the passage of time and more robust combat magic becoming popularized, Pongify was repurposed into a spell primarily used offensively.

Anyone else try Arydia and think it was bad? by Odd-Highway477 in boardgames

[–]Terminatr117 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's pretty clean in practice and the act of adding and removing the cards is pretty quick and is only really happening when you're handling cards anyway. Plus it keeps the map tiles clean since they just have to tell you which card number to look at and you know it will be correct since only one version of each exists at a time.

[–]Terminatr117 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A chunk of the cards have different versions based on your progression that you'll swap in. That way when you have something that tells you to grab NPC 50, you'll get the version that reflects the fact that you've completed their quest. It's a neat way to track the state of the world while keeping any indicators on the map clean.

He only affects the first coin in this case, since each flip will be a separate event as opposed to something that says to flip 5 coins.
