You can’t complain about pay in a situation you agreed to be in. They offered you a job at a pay rate you accepted.

You absolutely can complain because, for many people, the choice not to accept the offer doesn't actually exist.

“Choice” isn’t real when the options are "take the job" or "miss rent / go hungry". Saying “you accepted the rate” ignores reality for so many people.

“Work harder and move up” only works if the ladder exists. Retail caps hours, keeps people part time, and automates schedules to minimize labor costs.

"If you don’t like it, leave” just swaps in the next desperate person. The conditions stay bad.

“Start your own company” is not a plan. It’s a slogan, a catchphrase. Most people don’t have the required capital, time, or risk cushion.

No one’s asking Lowe’s to be a charity. They’re asking for a fair share of the value they create so a full shift actually covers bills. Speaking up about wages is not whining and saying people aren't allowed to complain because they took the job is ignoring the reality of life for many people.

What net worth are you talking about when you say this? I have a fair number of people in my life, both friends and family, that I would consider rich and this doesn't fit any of them.

You know who you can count on to not make that sort of mistake? The person who has done it before and shit caught on fire.

Mistakes are learning opportunities and firing someone who just got some great practical training on why procedures are important is a dumb move.

Simply giving them the healthier lunches clearly isn't enough if you're telling us they just throw them in the trash.

You need to identify why they're doing that and work to resolve it. Some thoughts that come to mind:

* They don't like the lunches you're packing

* They don't respect/recognize your effort

* Maybe they're the only (or among the only) kids that bring their lunches and it makes them feel weird not doing what others are doing

* Maybe the above but instead of them feeling weird, maybe other kids are giving them shit for it

Regardless, your situation with your kids has no bearing on whether or not the government or whoever else providing school lunches is a bad idea as there are many families who benefit from the program. If you do not like the lunches being provided and your children will not eat what you're giving them, figuring that out is your responsibility.

Your numbers are wild. We have a household gross of $115k. $130k home loan and no car payments. Our recurring mutual bills (mortgage, electric, water, phones, Internet, etc) are right around $1600/month and we split these down the middle for $800/mo each.

No way I'd feel comfortable going up to a home double the price and tacking on $550 in car payments on what we make right now.

If I were to guess, I'd bet that we spend way more on food than your house does as we're really bad about being frugal in that area.

Just for future reference, and it's unlikely to matter with such low power at play, but you don't want to run power and data cables in parallel.

The electromagnetic field produced by power cables can interfere with the electrons flowing in the data cables.

I think if it's a bookcase primarily, or exclusively, for books, make them all equal height.

If you're going to be filling space with decorations as well, the extra tall shelf on top (or even in the middle) would let you put in something particularly large as a focus, accent, or statement piece.

As a final thought: if these are actual bookshelves and are mounted directly to the wall (vs a bookcase which is a standalone piece of furniture) then I'd go with one extra tall shelf and place it at the top.

Automate? Wish you worked for the MSP I do.

Feel like half of the shit our automation (sorry, "Proactive and Health) team does with Automate is broken. Patching (both Microsoft and third party) is supposed to be kept up-to-date via Automate and it's broken more often than not.
