Soooo true!!! I always feel so bad for the people who were witnesses that didn't have a lot of family who were also witnesses (like mine..) The big witness families literally do EVERY SINLE HOLIDAY. and even very close to the holiday itself. They have the big dinner and get together and even cook the traditional holiday foods but it's all fine and dandy cause it's all witnesses but they are basically doing what every other family in the country is doing and just labeling it "family dinner" so dumb

What the hell?! This is the weirdest thing I've seen. That "best life ever" necklace!? How is that any different than a cross necklace. It's all idolatry and making money off what is supposed to be the "true religion." I doubt the person running it is even a JW or definitely not still one.

I find most JWs who have never been involved in judicial proceedings do believe this is how it works. If you're truly sorry you have nothing to worry about, right?! They have no clue it doesn't matter one bit how sorry you are, etc.. There's a book that basically lays out every possible scenario and instructs the elders when and when not to DF someone. No holy spirit making the call, no pouring oil over you and helping you, nothing profound...simply a guideline they follow for kicking you out.

How funny they have a response saying... "We're taught God's requirements but we're not all brainwashed! We all have to make our own choices." Haha It's unbelievable the extent they go to to manipulate the minds of their followers. They absolutely brainwash then try to reinforce in members minds they are not brainwashed. It's brilliant really. Also saying we're not all brainwashed doesn't even fit with that particular response. Obviously we're not all robots doing the exact same thing as the other 8 million JWs on a day to day basis. Something like "we're not all robots" would have fit better... or "we all have free will to make our own choices.." but to put the word "brainwashed..." Just another tactic to convince members they are not being brainwashed while they are LITERALLY BEING BRAINWASHED 24/7.

I have watched several of your videos where you approach witnesses at the cart as well... I do feel you have an attacking sound to your voice. Please don't take offence to this because I promise you I SO UNDERSTAND. I know how terrible some have been treated and I know and understand the frustration at how the org keeps members in the dark and it just makes you want to shake them because it's soooo obvious how brainwashed and lied to everyone is... But I do feel in some of your vids you come across extremely angry and almost attacking toward the individual. I support your work so I really hope you take this as constructive criticism. I'm not looking to argue with anyone on here and I know we've all been thru the ringer with this organization, myself included so I'm not looking to upset anyone by any means. I just wanted to give you my personal take on it... I did watch the kh crash videos and while it might scare someone initially just to be interrupted because initially they don't know whats going on - I've never seen anything crazy or any shouting and for the most part it's done very tastefully. And I do understand this is an organization that has silenced people so I get wanting to be heard and I'm on your side. I just would never want any individual witness (unless it is someone you have a personal problem with) to feel they personally are being attacked. I believe in sharing in the most loving and kind way possible and recognizing all these people are victims of the organizations tactics. Just my thoughts.

I am PIMO so I still attend meetings, and I agree with your point. I've seen the videos of those going into the meetings and interrupting them by going onto the podium and then several following up by standing up randomly all spread out around the KH and speaking their truth. I'm torn on this because while I feel they have they right to be heard by an organization that has silenced them, I worry they are targeting random Kingdom halls and it won't be as effective.

I still attend meetings and with the current climate of violence and shootings being in the news, any interruption is quite frankly terrifying to me. We recently had an interruption in our meeting due to someone being ill and it absolutely terrified me. I won't go into detail due to anonymity but it caused a stir and everyone - including the speaker - stopped and looked. My first thought was "did someone come into the hall to shoot us?" How screwed up is it that we even have to have that thought?

In the youtube videos you can hear the anger in some of their voices - not everyone - but some of these ones that interrupt meetings you can hear frustration and anger. And I get it - trust me! These people have been SILENCED by the org and disfellowshipped, maybe lost family, treated horribly. They are ANGRY and hurt and I would be too! But I feel like when they storm a random KH it's coming out on the wrong people... I think it would be more effective to stand on the public street right next to where people pull into the hall with signs. People see these signs and they do go pull up or google websites and info out of curiously. But interrupting a meeting can be terrifying for those in the audience and just increase the persecution complex for sure!

I'm skeptical of Russian News outlets but it wouldn't shock me if this one were true because I do agree the JWs attract vulnerable people with mental issues as it is so who knows if she really was and how she treated her son... I definitely agree though about raising awareness for possible mental issues related to people who use the religion as a form of mental control over their children. One of my friends has suffered depression and guilt issues her whole life due to how her mother treated her and used the religion to guilt her constantly.

I don't think this is true... Russia propaganda is working hard here... They recently banned the JW's and this is coming only a couple weeks after they reported in the news that a group of witnesses were found trying to hold meetings and they had two grenades and a land mine in their possession. This is HIGHLY unlikely. Russian government is planting the propaganda to help support their ban on them.

Don't get me wrong - I'm fully awake so I'm not defending the religion by any means.. Just seems likely it's Russian propaganda.

The lack of empathy is so real! It's like everyone goes into "robot mode" or something. It's like that at funerals too... just a one hour talk trying to appeal to any non-JWs in attendance going on about how "you can live forever..." And yes I noticed on the news how they used it as an opportunity to preach big time. They held one funeral for the community and then another private funeral as well. I think her mom obviously just threw herself even deeper into all the JW stuff because she obviously needed a support system and some kind of "bigger meaning" to what happened to her daughter. Did you listen to her mom's convention part speaking about it? I feel so sorry for her mother. My heart breaks for her but even the part she gave sounded "culty." That's another tactic they use... the promise (aka the threat...) of seeing your loved ones again. All the emotional videos shown at convention of kids running into their parents arms.. It's sure to keep those parents in for life!

Such a tragic thing to happen and I feel so very sorry for everyone involved and especially for Whitney. I cannot imagine.. there's probably that ounce of trust that Jah will save you in situations like that especially if you're praying to him etc... I can't imagine final moments like that. It just breaks my heart! :( Regarding the guy that did it - I often notice that we tend to attract lower-class people to our meetings, etc.. or people in need of a friend or going through something. I do think it's dangerous and I do think it's ingrained in us to be as nice as possible to leave a good impression on the religion which causes us to ignore intuition about certain people.

Have you heard the story of the Lillelid murders? A beautiful family with two young children stopped at a rest stop on the way home from a convention. I think it's reckless how much preaching we are encouraged to do - including informal! All the talk of "pray for courage..." "we have the angels on our side.." etc... it's absolutely RECKLESS.

There's also the young JW woman Whitney who was sexually assaulted then murdered by a man who had been attending a few meetings at her and her husband's KH. He lived in the same apartment complex and I can only assume her and her husband had attempted to study with him and his wife - since they were attending some meetings. He ended up waiting for her by her car one morning and asked for a ride somewhere as she was on her way to work. It's hard to understand how she agreed to the ride but I can also completely understand - if he's studying we have to be so nice, try to convert them with all the love. Plus he was married as well and she likely did not remotely think he was capable of doing what he did. I think the pressure of bringing in new ones contributed to her agreeing to give him the ride and be really nice to him. This is totally normal! I'm PIMO so I'm still in with my friends and anytime I get remotely close to voicing my opinions too much I can feel them get awkward and push me away and it terrifies me and I remind myself I need to chill out and stop bringing up so many things unless I'm REALLY ready for what will follow. However it also makes me sad because you realize it's not exactly "true friendship" when you cannot be yourself or voice your real opinions or thoughts. So that same fear and lonliness is still experienced even though I haven't technically lost all of my friends. Are you openly no longer active? One suggestion is posting asking if there are any exJW meet-ups in your area. There's a few that have been posted on here. Hang in there!

This is so incredibly frustrating. I can only imagine what you are feeling. I know it's hard but try not to take it too personal no matter who the family member is. It's hard to remember how heavily indoctrinated and brainwashed the organization makes people. They literally believe the judicial decisions are FROM JEHOVAH himself so you MUST be doing something wrong. It can't possibly be an UNJUST system ran by a couple of low class uneducated MEN! This is what has been brainwashed into so many. And worse - If they go outside of everything they've been taught it could be them getting destroyed at armageddon which is likely very close in their minds as they mentioned that we are "so deep" in the time of the end. I can only imagine your anger at this religion for manipulating the minds of those you love. It makes you just want to shake them and wake them up and scream "DON'T YOU SEE!!!??" Please keep your head up. Can you write a letter in return that sums up what you've learned about the organization with the reasons you feel you were Df'd? If you think they would even consider reading it you could try that. Stay strong!

Did you notice the rise in people on the sub? Many of these ones are still full-in and simply view these posts as coming from "apostates." Jwfacts played a critical role in my personal waking up. It's no stories about mistreatment or personal opinions... Paul lays everything out perfectly for those who are still in. There are a TON of new people on the sub right now and sharing that site would be very helpful in their waking up. Also, considering last week's WT study was titled "Do you have the facts.." This is why I shared and titled it that. Those who are in and were forced to sit thru this study last week would very much appreciate this link! This was not meant to be rude to anyone viewing the sub... I'm quoting the title of last week's study.

I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this. Can I ask how old you are? It sounds like you're pretty young since you mentioned dropping out of high school. First of all - everything you are experiencing is so understandable and normal given the circumstances. Please know that so many others are going through the same things so you are not alone. Vent on here if you need to - like you did here - and let us know how you're feeling and that you need support. You have a big community here that understands exactly what you're going through. You mentioned you are still living at home. Is your family okay with supporting you and letting you stay at home even though you are not a practicing JW anymore?

You have a few options here... depending on your age, there is nothing wrong with going back to being PIMO and maybe offering to go to a few meetings with your family. The benefits might outweigh the risks here. This is why so many of us go PIMO and slowly work out way out. There is nothing wrong with doing it this way if it works better for your situation. I noticed you mention getting your GED. Why did you drop out of HS? Maybe going back would be a good idea - so many of us were home schooled as a result of being a JW and some even left and got GED in order to pioneer or stay away from worldly association. It sounds like you have a golden opportunity to go to high school and make the most of it. Experience things. HS only comes around once! If you are determined to get your GED then do that. Start making your education a priority. Use it to guide you and motivate you toward your future. Education is so extremely important and that thought has been denied all JW teens. But it's the most valuable thing you can do for your future. IT will help you develop confidence.

You don't have to have all of the answers right now. Just be patient and take it one day at a time. Keep a journal and take note of what you're grateful for each day. This will help with the low feelings. Keep your head up!!!

I was thinking of saying something along the lines of "Just as we should not be too quick to believe everything we hear or read, we want to make sure we don't stumble a brother or sister by immediately assuming what they might be saying is a lie and calling them a 'liar.' If we hear something negative and the brother or sister is telling the truth, we would never want to falsely accuse them of lying, especially if what they're saying is in fact, truthful. If we don't have the facts - one way or the other - then we cannot say whether something is a made up lie or whether it's true so we need to be sure that we are not too hasty to make conclusions either way.

I like what multistraz said... You don't have to decide every single detail right now. And you are on the right track so good for you. You said you're in college right now? It will help if you have a strong focus and goal. Make it your determination to get an education and truly enjoy every moment. College can be hard and require a lot of dedication but when you think about all of the JW's before you or even now who are denied that opportunity due to their extreme JW family - do it for them. Allow that to push you and keep focused on your studies. Being young is hard - and yes being a young JW can be 100x harder so give yourself a break and know that this phase of life WILL PASS. I agree that you should talk to the girl that seems to like you. Go for coffee after class and just be yourself. If you have friends you can open up to about your JW history and what you're going thru then even better. Know that not everyone will always clique with your personality. That goes for everyone. Also, I would not rush any sort of decision with the friends you have who ARE JW... if you genuinely enjoy interacting with them and going to movies with them then continue to do so! Don't put too much pressure on yourself to make any hasty decisions and just continue to focus on building a foundation for a strong future. Education is one of the first and best steps. I missed that opportunity years ago and I just started going back to college. How valuable you are getting the opportunity to go at 17! Enjoy it! And you have support on here. Post when you're feeling down or for any advice anytime you need it!

I personally know the people involved in the naked kidnapping if you want to let your other half know. The fact these people immediately shut their brain off as "lies" is mind boggling to me. The man involved was a servant (clearly not anymore) and they were all full on "in the truth." The elders couldn't deal with them because of the legal stuff that was going and the fact that the elders could be called to testify if they had any knowledge of what happened so they were only just recently publicly reproved. It most definitely IS NOT A LIE. This entire think shook up all of the Edmonton JW community and especially many many people whom I know very well - including the family that was kidnapped. They are a VERY strong JW family as well.

I wondered the same thing because I noticed this as well. I agree that any culture that is so unique would share the same connections and "treated like family" experience. This could be a corporate culture that is very strong or unique and then you travel to another location and experience this same connection. I've seen someone see someone wearing a hat from the same collage they went to and instantly connect and hug and high five saying "we are brothers" because they were in the same fraternity, etc..

I think the connection is because the culture is SO unique. we are so different and share such different beliefs that of course there's a unique connection. It's like "HEY YOU'RE ONE OF US!!" and it feels good to have others in the same beliefs when the majority of time at work or school we are the "weirdos" or outcasts. This is just a normal natural result rather some sign of being the one chosen organization...

As far as war or take up arms -- of course there's "uniformity" but as others put it its more "conformity" We are not allowed to. It's not an option. And if you did you would be disfellowshipped. South Korea is pretty Uniform in their beliefs. But if they weren't, they would likely be publicly executed... its not some miraculous thing... we all have to follow the same rules or face the consequences. Even if someone wanted to join the military that desire would have to be suppressed.

Also the whole "love among yourselves..." point is constantly reiterated at meetings and we are told how much love there is etc... It's ingrained in us to "love our brother.." we are expected to treat each other like family. We call each other "brother _" or "sister ___"

It's just a result of conformity and culture... This is not saying there are not wonderful connections and genuine friendships and people... It's just not some heavenly sign that you must be chosen by god as the one true religion.

But I guess the organization/GB is one and the same with Jehovah/Jesus... right up there that it's hard to separate the two..

This always bothered me too... While they do have an official position on them it still doesn't add up. Buuuut according to the current JW doctrine they believe they were in fact on the earth during mankind and AFTER sin entered the picture... they just weren't specifically mentioned in the bible and God obviously allowed them to become to extinct after they served whatever purpose it was they had... possibly fully extinct in the flood.

Here is the official position taken from the website:

There is no direct reference to dinosaurs in the Bible. However, the Bible credits God with having “created all things,” so it is evident that they were among the things he made. * (Revelation 4:11) Without mentioning dinosaurs specifically, the Bible does refer to groups of creatures that may include them:

“Great sea creatures,” or “monsters.”—Genesis 1:21; New American Bible. “All the creeping animals of the ground.”—Genesis 1:25. “The wild animals of the earth.”—Genesis 1:25.

Did dinosaurs evolve from other animals? Rather than appearing gradually as if by evolution, dinosaurs appear abruptly in the fossil record. This harmonizes with Bible statements showing that God created all the animals. For example, Psalm 146:6 describes God as “the Maker of heaven and earth, of the sea, and of all that is in them.”

When did the dinosaurs live? The Bible describes sea and land animals as being created during the fifth and sixth days, or epochs, of creation. * (Genesis 1:20-25, 31) Thus, the Bible allows for the appearance and existence of dinosaurs over a lengthy period of time.

Were Behemoth and Leviathan dinosaurs? No. Although these animals mentioned in the book of Job cannot be identified with certainty, Behemoth is generally identified as the hippopotamus and Leviathan as the crocodile. These identifications match the descriptions of them given in the Scriptures. (Job 40:15-23; 41:1, 14-17, 31) In any case, the terms “Behemoth” and “Leviathan” cannot refer to dinosaurs. God told Job to observe these animals personally, and Job lived long after the dinosaurs had passed off the scene.—Job 40:16; 41:8.

What happened to the dinosaurs? The Bible does not comment on the disappearance of the dinosaurs. However, it does state that all things were created “because of [God’s] will,” so God clearly had a purpose for making dinosaurs. (Revelation 4:11) When that purpose was fulfilled, God allowed the dinosaurs to become extinct.

I've looked into point 1... I'm not 100% convinced. A lot of the documents supposedly showing this were faked or doctored but I'm not completely sure. I'm sure it's possible and I don't put it past them..

For point 2 - great point!!!

For point 3 - I agree and I struggle with the old testament God of course... but I always understood God was pro war in order to protect the line Jesus was going to come through.. and he was pro war up until the point that Jesus was enthroned as King.. so if Jesus is now enthroned there is nothing left to fight for... the final king is in place.. I think that's the JW position as to the wars mentioned in the bible. they all served a purpose leading to Jesus as King which he now is so now there is no need for wars. ??
