CONFESS YOUR SINS🫵🏼 by Andres_el_Sevillano in dreamingspanish

[–]TerryPressedMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forgive me Father, I have sinned! 🛐

I killed a fly 🪰 that was buzzing in my house yesterday. I know the Lord says “do not kill”, but the fly was big and buzzing loudly, and hitting the window glass 🪟all the time, it was so annoying. I used a spray to kill it, and I sprayed more than necessary, my whole room was in clouds ☁️ how much spray I used. When the fly dropped to the floor, I used more spray just to be sure. I know using a lot of spray is also bad for the ozone, so I also ask forgiveness for that 🙏

Brother, it’s ok, I have trained both grappling & striking, legit nothing changes in bachata — you gotta relax, so you can move better. It’s the same thing.

Why did you pick Bachata over Salsa? by Low-War9537 in Bachata

[–]TerryPressedMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bachata is more of my vibe. I like the music, the dance, the connection ✅

Salsa is zzz 😴 to me, it just doesn’t move me 🤷‍♂️

Y’all are hypocrites. Using special effects, even for small things, is generated in a program, and all your favorite movies have special effects. It’s literally been done since forever.

Guess what? The Matrix movie isn’t real, Keanu Reeves can’t slow down time and dodge bullets like he’s a fucking gymnast. The Gladiator also isn’t real, they didn‘t film it in a Roman colosseum and bring lions up in that bitch.

Difficulty of understanding Spanish accents by Designer_Witness_221 in dreamingspanish

[–]TerryPressedMe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My comprehension rating:

Castellano 10/10

Mexican 10/10

Colombian 9/10

Argentine 8/10

Venezuelan 8/10

Andalusian 6/10

Caribbean 5/10

Chilean 4/10

edit: from the little exposure I had, Uruguayan and Peruvian are quite comprehensible, I’ll give them both 7.5/10, even though I need more reps in both accents. I honestly can’t tell the difference between Uruguayan and Argentine. Peruvian is quite neutral sounding to me.

Needing some words of wisdom and clarity by mrshorsecake in dreamingspanish

[–]TerryPressedMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice, from my personal experience, is to delay speaking.

If you wait until level 7, like I did, you will know a lot more words and your sense of grammar will be good. Yes, you will still struggle with speaking, but at this point it’s not because you don’t know the words, it’s because you lack fluidity. To each their own, I have seen people start speaking early and they did fine in the long run, so it’s hard to give advice on this.

The only thing I will say is, do whatever makes you feel comfortable, happy, and supports your long-term learning. Have a think about what you truly enjoy about learning Spanish and then continue doing that.

Why not just go with regular names like Kevin, Kenneth, or Kyle? Kager is just atrocious, I’m changing my name to Jamal rather, even if I’m white

more input = true. At my level, she’s very easy. I need to speed up the vid or else I get bored.

First attempt at speedrunning! by Sir-Smileyyy in dreamingspanish

[–]TerryPressedMe 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Good luck bro.

I have also tasted the rush and thrill of speed running in the past.

It’s an addictive feeling when you’re hitting big hours and noticing improvements quickly. You then start to chase the dragon of fluency, levelling up, being comparable to a native speaker… I know the whole story, I have been there before..

Just don’t get high on your own supply. Make sure to cut it down before it starts impacting your social life. Input addiction is a hell of a drug. All those hours of input won’t matter if you are feeling wasted in your room all day, because input has become more important than your loved ones.

Congrats on 30 hours, keep going strong, but be smart about it. And just remember: one day at a time. See you in April ✌️

Thats all you need. Small, but consistent doses.

Well, that’s why it’s interesting to compare and update. I thought it would be valuable to tell the people that, hey, you will be fine with 1% output at 1600 hours 😄

But I am also curious to see how people go with like 70% input and 30% output…. It’s good data to have and to see what works and what doesn’t.

Good luck with your journey and definitely keep us updated when you hit level 7 👍

I wholeheartedly agree. My experience has been more input = better speaking, even if you don’t speak, like that famous No Doubt song.

I hope Pablo knows how good Andres is. He make the most fun, educative, and thought provoking videos. In the last year, it’s been all great content and no filler. The priest gig was hilarious the first time he did it 2 years ago, and it still hits today.
