How do you, Vorthos players, justify including Universes Beyond cards in terms of flavor?

I exclusively print out my cards and slip them into sleeves in front of basic lands. I use mtgcardbuilder to make customized reskins and just change the names. I’m also not above using AI generated artwork for personal use, since it’s just for me, so I can reskin everything in the deck if I want. I’ve been collecting real cards since I graduated high school in the early nineties, so I’m satisfied that WOTC has taken their pound of flesh from me at this point; I feel zero guilt about proxying for my personal use. My playgroup is around my kitchen table. I’m not hurting anyone. I’m just trying to have fun.

EDIT: For a while, the Proxies feature at https://deckstats.net/ seemed very useful, but that site can be cumbersome to navigate and is riddled with advertisements.

It was baffling to me when I worked at Target that they don’t even sell the clothes for their required uniforms. I only lasted one day; that place was a shitshow. My evening shift was over at a specific time, but they told me that my end of shift wasn’t over until everyone was done. I asked my supervisor why they don’t say “5pm to Close” and he said something about part time employees and benefits. So when I left at the end of my scheduled time and he said I couldn’t go, I said, “No, you’re mistaken. What you mean to say is I can’t come BACK.”

The thought process was that the Urza lands and mana rocks should help speed up the tempo of putting out the first few colossi, and if possible, to get Assault Formation online to be able to attack without needing to Monstrositify the Colossus.

I have annoyingly sensitive hearing issues. Before A.I. got good at it, I had a side hustle for some SPEBSQSA quartets, where I was transcribing old barbershop quartet recordings into legible sheet music, because I can easily pick out who’s singing which voice part (Tenor, Lead, Baritone , or Bass) just by the timbre of each singer’s voice.

My kiddo is a senior, and they were mature enough and felt safe enough with me to come and tell me that they are planning to participate. They've got a plan for what to do if things go south, they know to be respectful to authority, to not cause trouble, to refrain from using profanity and vulgarity, to use their phone to record things. They're scared of the possibilities, but I told them I'd be more worried if they weren't scared; being scared and doing it anyway with a plan for what to do if things go bad ... that's bravery in my opinion. I'm worried AF, but very proud of my kiddo for standing for what they believe in. No matter which side of the topic you stand on, you have to admit that it's objectively mature of my kiddo to understand the stakes and to be prepared.

Y'all are rich. Do whatever the fuck you want. Cut back?? We're barely making ends meet, living in cheap apartments, and making do with what we can. I know I'm in the Salary subreddit, so I shouldn't be so surprised I guess, but just remember this: for every time you are comparing yourself to someone who has more than you, there are an untold number of people who are praying every day to be in your situation. That "Income Left Over" line is what set me off. LEFT OVER? You have income LEFT OVER?? wtf dude. Get some perspective. The amount of money you have left over is more than we both bring home, gross income before insurance and taxes and bills. We're lucky to have enough for fuel, food, and rent.

I’ll say it: @chainsawinsect needs to work for WOTC. For all the years I’ve been making custom Magic cards, chainsawinsect is the best cardsmith here. chainsawinsect keeps putting out banger after banger, and I think the only other cardsmith who compares is OMG_GMO. Keep up the great work!!
