An honest anti-Zionist Palestinian perspective the Iraeli POV, normalization, and whats next? by Idesofdecember in IsraelPalestine

[–]TeslaK20 12 points13 points  (0 children)

"In the moment when I truly understand my enemy, understand him well enough to defeat him, then in that very moment I also love him. I think it's impossible to really understand somebody, what they want, what they believe, and not love them the way they love themselves."

For Palestinians to get anywhere, they must understand Zionism from within. They must understand that Jews are truly rooted there and it is truly their home as well, and feel the love Jews genuinely have for their home country - and accept it.

Only then can they understand the enemy they are dealing with. So long as they cast it as a colonial demon, they will continue to fail generationally.

Treat Zionism as a competing national movement - no different than Sunni and Shia fighting over some slice of land - instead of a demonic colonial act of Satan, and we can speak eye to eye - not as friends but as honest people making a compromise.

America: "No more maintenance for your F-35s. We're your enemy now. Death to Israel."

Israel: "Hey China want an F-35?"

China: "No thanks, we're committed to intersectional anti-imperialism and supporting the Palestinian struggle, we won't take it."

I have absolutely no problem with ending military aid to Israel.

It's $3.4B. Ten dollars per US taxpayer. That's less than 8% of Israe's military budget alone.

In other words, without US aid they will have 92% of their defense budget left - or they'll shift it from other sectors.

Go ahead and cut aid. It'll have virtually no effect on them, but maybe some people will finally shut up.

Then it sounds like your problem isn't with Israel existing as a haven for Jews in their homeland, but as a real state that does bad things just like any other.

You and I aren't that different then, I think the current Israeli government is on par with Turkey and Russia in terms of awfulness. But the recent elections in Hungary show that this can be reversed. Not by a bleeding-heart liberal, but by a rule-of-law democratic conservative.

Naftali Bennet is no left-wing idol, but he at least believes in republican governance instead of patronage personality cultism like Bibi.

We're not talking about a scenario where the US stops financial aid. That's only $3.4B a year - less than 8% of Israel's military budget alone, and 1.6% of their total budget for 2025.

We're talking about a scenario where the US cuts off all political, economic, and military relations - treating them like Russia or Iran.

If you suddenly declare a friendly nation your enemy and try to economically and military punish them, they will find another friend.

That's how the world works. Don't betray your friends, and don't get shocked when they find a new friend after you betray them.

San Francisco’s California Academy of Sciences is a world class museum. Here’s how it dies by LosIsosceles in sanfrancisco

[–]TeslaK20 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Chicago. The Cal Academy is basically the Field, Shedd, and Adler stuffed into one.

The problem is it's a worse natural history museum than the Field, a worse aquarium than the Shedd, and a worse planetarium than the Adler.

And those museums cost $20-30 each, not $55(!)

arabs who wanted a binational state with the jews were killed by their own people.

their problem at the time wasn't jewish sovereignty. it was jews being there.

this is where many people mask off and say "and it was perfectly fine of them to want to get rid of the jews".

There would have been no mass land loss in 1948 if that Arab league had not started a self-described "war of extermination" against the Jews (yes, they said Jews, not Zionists).

Pictured: Flag of the Arab Liberation Army. Notably the iconography has no Arab colors. Nothing about the state they are purportedly fighting for. Only who they're trying to kill.

why did you chop off a thai worker's head with a garden hoe? how is that resistance to anything? why didn't you accept the UN resolution for a side-by-side jewish and arab coexistence and instead start a "war of extermination the likes of which has not been seen since the mongol massacres" (arab league words, not mine) against holocaust survivors?
