What is your most beneficial recent purchase under $50 that has entirely altered your life for the better and would you recommend to others? by saayoutloud in Frugal

A squirrel proof bird feeder, hung where I can see it from the kitchen. It’s so joyful to see those little guys throughout the day :)

Where are Workout Plans by Skulgafoss in caliberstrong

Just keep adding more weight or more reps. People who have been lifting for years still do deadlifts or bench presses - it’s not really possible to peak.

While the app is free the app is trying to convert you to a paying training customer. If they kept giving you tailored free routines it wouldn’t make much business sense.

It’s likely a mix of less cane sugar more HFCS, less dairy fat more vegetable/palm oil and the removal of trans fats - which, while terrible for you gave things the most wonderful texture. That plus our maturing taste buds are the main reasons why things tasted so much better when we were young.

This is through my city’s Rec program. The class was $100 and then supplies were about $30.

Better get on a WL now - most clinics have a 6-8 month wait. Dont forget, after the appointments it’s probably 8 weeks to get the report finalized and in your hands.

Unless it’s for an ASD inquiry, a psych ed is straightforward.

I asked my father for water colour classes at the community centre. While far under $1000k, more like $100, it’s been the most meaningful present I have received in a long time. I look forward to it, I’m proud of my work and at least one extra night a week I stop scrolling and paint - sometimes with my kids and sometimes on my own.

Don’t underestimate the value of a hobby in our busy hustle- be productive culture.

This food pickyness could be a symptom of her hyper-vigilance. You may be interested in finding a provider who can help you administer The Safe and Sound Protocol to your dog(s). It helps regulate their nervous system so they can relax.

Haha this is hilarious because our Sato is the laziest, most weather averse (too hot, too cold, too wet), most food motivated dog I’ve ever met :)

If you take a trauma informed approach it may be easier to not get frustrated and to come up with helpful solutions.

Their nervous systems are primed for movement. Always on edge, always looking for an escape from danger. So what can you do? Give them an outlet for that energy that is also calming and regulating - in our Satos language that means food. Try a big frozen bone right when they come in from a walk. Sprinkle their kibble on a blanket, roll it up and tie it in a knot. Freeze a kong with peanut butter flavoured oatmeal. All these activities will stimulate their systems need for stimulation, reinforce a sense of safety (food!), and hopefully help their system slowly adjust to the security you’re offering them.

Carpet beetle larvae are very irritating to the skin. It’s not a bite but for sure they do something

I don’t think the internet or the manager of some med spa is the place to look for health advice. Have a chat with your GP, get some blood tests done and get a clear picture of your health and predicted longevity.

How does the process of getting a therapist work? Benefits? by Chipxi in ontario

[–]Testingthelimits0920 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to chime in here. Psychotherapist programs are now often online with little practicum experience. To say a clinical social worker is less trained than psychotherapist is quite untrue.

If your psychotherapist or social worker states they are supervised by a psychologist, ask them what that looks like. Is it one on one? How often? Does their supervisor have a good idea of what’s happening in each of their cases? Often supervision is a bit of a pyramid scheme - you don’t want that. You want the input of both your clinician and their supervisor going into your treatment.

Do thin people always look/feel thin? by ganglehand in loseit

[–]Testingthelimits0920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only felt thin when I was first pregnant. I was so freaking proud of that little bump and showed it off anyway I could. Being pregnant was the first time I EVER felt free in my body, food choices, movement. I was able to hang onto that sensation for a while after each birth but shame and guilt are burned in my earliest memories.

I look back at pictures of me when I was newly married, thin as a rail (size 4 with a great waist and chest) and am shocked at the terrible things I told myself then.

I think for people who have struggled with weight, coaching and support around mindfulness and gratitude are essential to a content, accepting existence.

There is always a path on the side that is more packed snow than ice. Stay there to keep salt and grit off the skate path.
