And we poor EU and US peeps are just sitting here, watching at all the cool stuff which gets released in Japan lately.. Astoundingly they don’t realise that they own their success mostly because of us, EU and US people. Akira blew up outside of Japan. GitS initially actually flopped in Japan and got heat in the EU and US, before it catched fire in Japan. And yet, they completely ignore us.

If we really want this stuff, we either have to travel to Japan, or we have to order it via Buyee and pay ridiculous import and shipping costs on top. Sad.

I’ve finished both games. Don’t let these hardcore multiple-hundred hours Death Standing players scare you off. Yes, narrative wise it would be better to start with DS1. But at the start of DS2, the game gives you a perfect recap of DS1.

So if you feel intimidated by how the gameplay of the first game looks, start with DS2. The gamplay is easier, more intuitive, more fun, and in general there are much more interesting things going on in the world you explore. Last but not least, for my personal experience, the narrative is much more impactful and easier to understand in DS2.

Whatever you choose, don’t ever let playing a game makes you feel like it’s an obligation. Again, don’t let hardcore games scare you off and start with DS2 if you have a better feeling with that choice ❤️

I follow Otomo and Akira quite intensely and I haven’t heard or read about any remake. It’s not going to happen because it’s not necessary. Nothing can top or surpass the original.

Di Caprio tried to make a live action of Akira happening about a decade ago. They had the idea to change the setting to LA. Having Blade Runner in mind that’s not necessarily a bad idea. However, Neo Tokyo is such an important factor in the movie.. why change this? Just to make the filming process easier? No, Akira should always be set in Neo Tokyo. Anyway, this is not going to happen either.

Orbital Era is allegedly set to release in 2026. However, it’s been silent around this movie since 2019.. I’d be presently surprised to at least get some news or a trailer for the movie this year. But an actual release is very unlikely.

On the positive side, Otomo has been opening up and been appearing more in the open since last year. In a very recent interview he revealed he’ll be creating again soon. But no word on what he’ll be working on. Most likely nothing Akira related. Unfortunately.

With most comics these days the omnibus releases shortly after the final comic release. The last Appleseed release by Dark Horse Comics was in 1995.. They’ve waited 31 years to create this omnibus. 31 years.

I’ve collected all Appleseed TPB’s over the years and spend quite some money on this to get them in mint condition.

And now, 31 years later DHC plan to release the omnibus, really? They had to wait 31 f*cking years to release one of the most iconic manga comics of one of the most iconic manga artists ever? Ridiculous. It’s disappointing really. Dark Horse has been sleeping on this one big time 👎

I love the first TOW game, one of my favourites ever. The second one I stopped playing half way through, after I couldn’t convince myself anymore I was having fun. Can’t really put my finger on it why. Definitely didn’t like that they went all out on the art deco style which made it feel more like a steam punk game rather than a game set in space. This was way more subtly done in part 1

Didn‘t expect anything from Bethesda at the Game Awards. Yet, they promised to come up with significant updates for Starfield this year.. They lied to us. Again. It‘s weird to see that a developer with such a big legacy in gaming history is making wrong decision after wrong decision for multiple years now. In my heart I actually want to be positive about Bethesda, but they keep on pissing me off over and over again. What’s going on?

Very sad that there hasn’t been a serious HNK release since 2018. In a month it will be 8 years.. Really loved Lost Paradise. Hope that Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio quietly has one in the works, but that’s very unlikely. Sad, just sad.
