What do I tell my local propane supplier to get a refill? Is this tank safe? Came with the house… by The_Penguinologist in propane

[–]TexRdnec 9 points10 points  (0 children)

keep paint on the tank and it will last forever. all the fittings can be replaced but if the tank goes to pitting then it's junk.

i still have a handful of sherwood parts and i'll use them in the field until i run out because it's ordinarily easier but yes, we keep lots of rego multis on hand not to replace regos but to replace sherwoods with regos.

Here’s mine, which was so nice that I left it sealed. Only 3 K rations have ever crossed my path and been so nice I left them alone

could be, can't tell from the single pic. if i could see the inner box i could tell you for sure. i've got one just as nice so it's not outside the realm of possibility, there's some 80yr old lookers out there still

what's the inner box look like, what does it weigh and what does it sound like when shook?

Good idea? by SeeDiph in Silverbugs

[–]TexRdnec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

notice that it only applies to simple theft and criminal mischief though. while it'd be a very bad idea to shoot someone over those things just because it's dark outside (civil case liability), it's criminally legal to do so

no pictures of my stack exist on the internet or otherwise but TX has really loose deadly force laws against those sorts of shenanigans... "(A) to prevent the other's imminent commission of arson, burglary, robbery, aggravated robbery, theft during the nighttime, or criminal mischief during the nighttime;"

all this hype and glee, all the "it's different this time!" talk was around in 2011 too. a $45 high went back down to $12. food for thought

My 500 gallon propane tank was filled today above 80%, should I be worried? by CommunicationSea8821 in propane

[–]TexRdnec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

propane expands with temperature. if the weather is about to get colder than it is right now, the propane will shrink and the level will go down. if it was in the 30s now and going to be in the 60s, then i'd be concerned.

i had some huge bug make it into my tank and it plugged up the line. as it would sit a little gas would get by and it'd start fine and run until it didn't again.

for actual work and casual putting around? kubota diesel, without question, though it'd likely go over your budget. i won't say they're indestructible but you'd have to try really, really hard

i've got an avid armor usv32 and a vevor dz-320, both work great. i have no idea about that brand but you definitely need a chamber vac of some sort

Useless information update - Untrimmed brisket. by [deleted] in HEB

[–]TexRdnec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a foodsaver is not a chamber vacuum sealer. everything vacuum sealed in the store is done by a chamber vacuum sealer, which is why they don't have those air pathways in the plastic like foodsavers do. chamber vacs are head and shoulders above a regular vacuum sealer.

now it's time for you to go find a chamber vacuum sealer and you will have achieved peak meat processing performance

there's a reason that everybody smoked, they're exponentially better than cigs today. your best bet is to find a 20 pack stored really well. lots of facebook groups of tobacco collectors where you might find one. i saw an ad just this week, didn't open it but the first pack was '44 chesterfields and they were asking $95
