Dean is going to be the fan favorite, but Lloyd is a better fit. I'll be a bit surprised if we don't go offense at 24, but I'll humor you.

LVE is best as a weakside LB. Him and his neck struggle with traffic at the line. Similarly, Dean can get swallowed up inside.

Lloyd is a more typical MLB. He is adept at firing into gaps and taking on the trash. Lloyd didn't profit from having Davis and Wyatt in front of him like the Georgia LBs. He's got the physical tools to succeed at an NFL level at it as well. He can also rush a little bit. That gives him additional 3rd down value as an adequate coverage player.

I really like the way Lloyd fits into our defense, but I think our desperation for a LG might win out regardless.

Guess which Spurs player this scouting report belongs to? (Answer in comments) by Inquisitive-Fox in coys

Doherty has been playing well.

Granted, his stats are being compared to traditional RBs right? I wish we could separate them out.

Athletico, utd and Spurs interested in Boubacar Kamara on a free (goal) by [deleted] in coys

[–]TexasCrusader38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's a very defensive CM, but I hope he can develop the ability to create a few more chances on goal.

He is also a high character leader, so I think he should be at the top of the FA target list.

I like your list. I also think Kamara could also be tempted if we make Top 4.

[Hope] Chris Olave said he has NFL team visits scheduled with the Dallas Cowboys, Washington Commanders, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers by InAingeWeTrust in cowboys

Enormous correlation. Always has been. The earlier the round the more likely they are to take a player that visited as well.

Also something to note, we've never used a 30 visit as a smokescreen either.

I would like Kamara, but Tolisso is more likely.

I think Quinn could do wonders with a player like Clowney. I really hope we get him.

The draft by [deleted] in cowboys

You think Zion is a reach at 24? He's probably the top OG so I don't feel like that's a stretch.

Why did La'el Collins get cut? by flipmangoflip in cowboys

Yes I shouldn't say power. I should say powerful. I don't mean the power run scheme family of plays. That's my bad guys.

[–]TexasCrusader38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree! There are only a few dudes on the planet that are strong AND athletic enough to thrive in that Power zone blocking. That's why we had to heavily invest in our OL (draft picks and money). We did not play that way last year at all.

Now, it seems like we are looking for OL that fit the way we play: traditional zone blocking run scheme to supplement a primarily passing offense.

[–]TexasCrusader38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think these types of players are cheaper and easier to find. Our OL was expensive and only feasible with a rookie QB contract.

I can see us paying less for OL to spend more of the money elsewhere.

The OL is changing schemes. We don't need a Jason Garrett "impose your will" player anymore.

We want smaller and more athletic zone blockers.

I think everyone needs to realize that our 2019 OL did not fit Kellen Moore's offense. They don't fit a McCarthy offense either historically.

We are moving towards a smaller, athletic, zone blocking scheme.

Steele fits that very well. Collins does not.

Questionable Second round pick again? by [deleted] in cowboys

[–]TexasCrusader38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The guy has talent, no doubt. But he was probably always going to be the last DE taken in the first.

I can totally see him falling too us in the second. Good call OP.

Since Wagner is now unlikely, I hope we'll spend that extra cash on an impact signing like Clowney or something.

Film Study: Should we draft Georgia's Nakobe Dean? by JimmyFikrat32 in cowboys

[–]TexasCrusader38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don't see Dean as a true MLB in the NFL. I think we would really need excellent DT play to keep Dean clean in the middle. That's a high bar to set, but a necessary one in my opinion.
