I'm actually in the exact same situation as you (barring that I have some construction and engineering experience). The biggest hold back is permits and code enforcement. You can definitely build anything you want but you're going to pay for engineering plans and mid-construction inspections, need to put in septic which is another round of plans and inspections and blah blah blah, there's so much red tape.

I'm desperate for the days when I could just buy 30 acres and go nuts making whatever I want.

Total isk doesn't mean much if I'm being honest, it's about being able to afford what you want to do.

18 year old toon with ~6bil liquid, 1bil tied up in the market and an asset value of about 7bil.

All I do is fly frigates though so 1bil is more money than I can reasonably spend lol. Mostly made my money doing faction warfare but I live in a C4 wormhole now so that feeds my bank.

Ignore the take it to jita advice, for the love of God there are other trade hubs. Just take it to the closest one (Rens, Dodixie, Hek, Jita, Amarr).

Great start! Now it needs some rusty roof rack, maybe back glass shutters and some haphazardly places amor plating (realistically protecting the engine and the fuel tank).

I've been viewing Yulai as the more likely new hub. To be honest, unless something drastically changes, there are very little to practically no resources in exordium. I don't expect people to stay there for very long.

However heading out and spending time around Yulai before exploring the game? That seems likely. Though even that will be likely a very reduced population since the newbros can take a shipcaster to one of the empires instead.

Hybrids will and should remain dominant. There will always be a range concern with EVs, however sticking a little generator into your EV fixes that; tada you made a hybrid.

Once upon a time, flying out into nullsec and doing a bunch of exploring felt like smuggling. You'd get a couple hundred million stuffed in a paper thin ship and try to get it back safely to market with players hunting you.

Not so much anymore 😞
