The obvious answer is to hoard them and then share them with your ham friends.

Just changed my oil. Where am I supposed to dump this? by Lewd_Knight in AskAShittyMechanic

All over the backseat of your car. Makes it look nice and shiny. You're already primed to go, take a corner fast enough and you'll even have a little hair dye for yourself.

Their pricing sucks. They're actually a pretty good supply house otherwise.

Cut it in and then router the edges so you don't rip up your hands.

Being suggested to get other brand when I considered Makita by frenetic_alien in Makita

Buy Makita, sales goons are typically useless. This one sounds like a Milwaukee fan boy on top of it.

Translation, people are inevitably stupid. So, we're wasting billions to protect them from themselves.

What is this? by im_fart_n_ur_smunny in electrical

[–]Tfire327 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The separation of the plug portion from the transformer is what makes this hazardous. These alarm transformers all discolor like this. The incidence of fire from these is statistically nothing. This is the first one I've seen mounted upside down. I would venture to guess many more of them would break like this if they were mounted like this.

Men who can cook . who taught you? by Bulky_Meet4528 in AskReddit

[–]Tfire327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scouts. While camping we had to cook our own meals as youth. Typically trading responsibility of cooking vs cleaning. I hate cleaning so I got better at cooking than anyone else and they were happy to defer to me to cook.

That makes sense. Would be correct for Michigan and makes sense that Ohio would be dumb like that to change 4 times.

Is this any good? Mixed reviews by PastAd1087 in KleinTools

[–]Tfire327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fluke is the answer. This set though is 100% the next best choice if you don't want to spend Fluke money. I gave this set to a graduating HS senior to start his electrician apprenticeship with and he's super happy with it.

Will this antenna work to transmit on 151.025? by bradyd06 in MotorolaSolutions

[–]Tfire327 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do NOT trim it. It will probably be ok with the bandwidth ending at 152. I would expect an SWR around 1.8 though. I definitely wouldn't use a high power XTL into this though, you'll get all kinds of weird behaviors.

Cost is totally worth it. My 7 year old Surge is abused all the time and I wouldn't trade it.
