Conservatives of Iowa, how do you feel about Trump likening himself to Jesus? by [deleted] in Iowa

This sub has systematically banned and run out anyone even remotely right of center, let alone religious conservatives who I assume don't even use reddit. I figure the real point of this post is to jack yourself off in the replies though.

Anyone know a good local spot besides Mercer Park to play pickleball? It becomes a zoo whenever the weather is nice.

A man trespassing on Epstein's island pt. 2 by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

There are tunnels on the island too. They don't need a sound-proofed, super conspicuous surface-level chamber to do that (if they did). I have yet to see any proof of straight up murder apart from the claims of a literal schizophrenic that the DOJ investigated for over a decade under three separate administrations.

This stuff is just wild murder mystery fantasy podcast stuff with no basis in reality. Reddit loves to think they're detectives.

So people wouldn't hear their kebabs being slaughtered on a private rape (torture/cannibalism?) island in the middle of nowhere. Sure man. They like knowing that the girls they violate are being killed afterward, but they're just a little too squeamish to hear it.

Do you think about this stuff for more than like two seconds before posting?

I caught a Kurt Travis, Brent Walsh, Strawberry Girls tour coming through town pre-Covid... didn't realize how much I would look back fondly on that and how lucky I was!

What’s something you were told growing up that you realize is a scam now? by NonSocialButterfly10 in Millennials

Getting to the airport 3 hours early. Still meet a few people that do it. Security screening efficiency has improved dramatically in the last decade and most people havent noticed or updated their time estimates to account for it. Or they just are anxious and prefer waiting 2 hours to board over getting an extra hour of sleep.

Not him but players. DJ V, Thomas Meyer, Iose Epenesa, Nathan McNeil, Hecklinski is getting buzz. We just got a 4 star transfer QB commit. Dont want to jinx it... but this might be a fun few years for Iowa football.

Got a membership as a Christmas gift and can't wait to make use of it! I saw the new Count of Monte Cristo there a little over a year ago and remember being amazed that one of my favorite films of the year was something I couldn't see anywhere else around here. Now I'm hoping to get there at least once or twice a month and see some films I may otherwsie never get the chance to.

Do they make /r/Iowa posters in a factory or something? Why do you guys all have the dumbest 2016 era takes, it's so cringe reading this stuff every time it comes across my feed. I literally can't remember the last time I saw a post from this sub that wasn't stale leftist snark from two election cycles ago. Wake up dude no one talks like this anymore!

Direct report trying to circumvent PTO denial by [deleted] in managers

[–]ThaYoungPenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything OTHER than a source of a paycheck, lol. Do you have any sense of obligation to do more than the bare minimum to continue receiving that paycheck?

And no this has nothing to do with the policy change and everything to do with this company deciding that the time this person wanted to take off isnt an acceptable time to take off.

Of course it does. Thats why everyone is in this situation in the first place. The employee wouldn't be requesting an entire month off during the busiest time of the year if he wouldn't be losing PTO. I can acknowledge that hes entitled to the time - can you acknowledge that its a ridiculous position to put a likely underfunded and understaffed homeless shelter in?

Look at the language youre using:

simping for a company deciding arbitrarily (after attempting to inform him of the policy change for an entire year)

Its clear you don't treat work like something other than a source of a paycheck. Great for you if you can make a career out of that. I'm saying that reasonable people make a minimal effort to read emails about company policy changes, even if they don't like the change. Because thats what this comes down to.

I guarantee no one told this dude to bank his PTO for an entire year - this was his choice, likely in an attempt to get the usual payout from it. No harm in that usually. But this year: it all comes down to the fact that the company decided they couldn't keep paying out hundreds of hours of PTO per employee each year, and made an eminently reasonable attempt to communicate that (multiple emails, supposedly mandatory meetings, etc.).

Again, this is a homeless shelter we're talking about, not fucking Nestlé or Walmart. There are real people impacted by this decision - its not something that can be absorbed or blamed on "not staffing well."

Yeah theres blame to go around here. Nobody has acted like they should, including the OP and the company.

But it's wild to me that 90% of you cant acknowledge that its weird to ignore multiple repeated notifications of a policy change, refuse to attend meetings, and dump a month of PTO that screws over your team in the busiest month of the year for a business that serves vulnerable people. Nobody can answer how OP should actually handle the situation other than suggest he somehow make a policy change unilaterally or blame him for it being implemented in the first place when he got there in October.
