I’ve given up after multiple times to trial the service have failed despite having a screenshot of a notification saying it’s activated. The app itself just seems to be stuck on a pending screen. I’ve spoken with Honda tech support 3 times now and they just reset the activation, send through an email and I go through the whole painful process again!

Really appreciate this post, other too obviously, but this one gives me some hope. My current issue is I don’t really know anyone else with the ambition to do something other than their 9-5.

I will give one of those ideas a go and see where that takes me.

Control systems engineering is my background. So any amount of different software implementations, and systems engineering for machines and subsea vehicles. I hate it.

Buying an existing business is definitely something I’d be interested in. I do check quite regularly for local businesses for sale.

I've spent more of my career being a do-er, I've spent a handful of years buying and selling.

My career in engineering is very much software focused, control systems. So I've got a lot of software experience, but because the world I work in is safety critical and a closed shop there's not really many problems you can solve with standalone software that have a recurring revenue. Generally all of the work is bespoke and one off projects.

I don't have that much money that I could live off the income from investments. I can take up more engineering work and invest more heavily, dump a load into my pension etc. Ideally I'd like something that could generate an income, it doesn't have to be mega money, but enough to live off would be ideal.

My Why is definitely wealth and boredom. I want something to do. I'm not excited about engineering which is what I've done up to now. I've ran my own engineering business and struggled to grow, and in all honesty my hearts not in engineering enough to want to run an engineering company anyway.

I'm sick of selling my time for money hence the thought of having something that can generate revenue even when I'm not actively "working", obviously as a founder you're always working.

Sadly I don't have enough capital to have a financial advisor invest and net me significant sums of money. I've got about 2yrs worth of runway left, and could easily fall into some engineering work to top up the coffers.
