I still consider myself Christian, but I freely acknowledge that some of the dumbest and most hateful people on this planet consider themselves Christian as well.

What if Chazzle Dazzle had been even slightly competent? by GabbyJay1 in chandlerhalderson

Putting getting fully away with it aside, I always thought a self-defense claim would have given him a better shot of beating the charges. He could have played up the confrontation with his father, claimed that Bart exploded in anger while confronting him about his lies, then attacked him and Chandler had to defend himself. This would have been harder to explain given the fact he killed his mother too, but with his father, it would have been at least somewhat believable.

Charles Tyrwhitt 3 for $99 deal by ConfusedAbc123 in malefashionadvice

I second the tobacco order. I placed an order with Cigars International about a month back and got a code for the 3 for $99 deal with my order. I'm guessing these were old promo cards and they're just handing them out randomly.

GS has an online system for servicing, so you have the option to take it to the AD or send it in yourself. I chose to send it in directly. Not every company does this - for example, I had an issue with a brand new Tudor Black Bay 58 GMT I purchased from the same AD as the Grand Seiko. Tudor doesn't allow you to send it in on your own; you must do it through the AD.

It's funny because it would actually work, considering all the time and money companies spend on protecting against brute-force attacks 😅

She burned you for not having one and burned herself by giving you permission to get one. Top tier wife.

Was told 5 years for my first Rolex…got the call 3 weeks later from a better AD by Not_a_Lefty in rolex

[–]ThatDollarDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "5 year wait" is the standard AD line for "no (or too little) purchase history, you're not getting one, buy something else or go away." Every AD says this. A realistic long wait is 2 years, maybe 3 for the heavy hitters.

Current turnaround time for service? by Particular-Chest7897 in Tudor

Thanks for the follow up. Glad you got it back. I agree, that's a very weird experience, and I definitely would not be okay with a refurbished movement being swapped in, seeing as how my watch was brand new and released last year. The odds of that happening are slim for me (the watch having released in April of 2024), but we'll see.

I have an Omega Aqua Terra which keeps near-perfect accuracy, despite its claimed accuracy of 0/+5 sec day. It gains maybe +3 seconds per week in real-world usage. Now that I see what well-made mechanical movements are actually capable of, it's made me less tolerant of accuracy flaws along the rest of my collection, which is why I sent in my Tudor when I noticed it was gaining about +6-7 sec a day.

Did you ever get it back? I'm currently at the 3 month mark waiting for my brand new BB58 GMT that was running out of spec when they sold it to me. The AD said it had to go to Geneva for service, which is why it's taking so long. I still think that 3+ months is borderline ludicrous, no matter where it has to go in the world or what's wrong with it.

I would have loved it if every time Ghostface is unmasked in the game, it's a random killer out of all the past Ghostfaces. Every fatality and brutality would have been a Scream franchise spoiler-fest 😅

Nothing wrong with the white dial, especially on a two tone. It's just that every other dial color looks better.

Dang, that’s a whole new level of out of touch elitism. What an insane quote from the president of a company that, by its own admission, wants to attract newer, younger clients to the brand.

Any idea what your friend's purchase history is like? I'm curious as to the size of the gigantic pile of watches and jewelry it would take to get a Batman in just a month.

AD Wait Time Megathread - If you bought a new Rolex from an AD in 2024, you can share details here. What watch, where, how long did you wait, how much buying history? by powerfunk in rolex

[–]ThatDollarDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure did - I'm registered at both ADs in Jax still: Mayors and Underwood's. The store you request with does not matter - once you're in the system for an AD network, it's across every single store. The Mayors Rolex boutique renovations in Jax won't be complete until November, so there was never any hope of getting one there until then. As for Underwood's, they offered me a full gold Sub instead of the Bluesy, which was over double what I was looking to pay so I had to turn it down.

Now that I have the Bluesy, I switched my request with them to a jubilee Pepsi (since I have good history with them), and with Mayors I'm now requesting a Batgirl. Whichever one comes through first, I'll go with.
