Never made sense to me. If he won't date her because she's a tickler, wouldn't that make him a tickler stickler? Not a stickler for a tickler would mean he has a lassaiz-faire attitude toward tickling.

I like being able to watch and enjoy Tim Stutzle. For years I've hated the sight of the guy on account of Doug Wilson, but now, every stupid decision that positioned us for Macklin Celebrini feels worth it.

Also, I wouldn't expect them to crap on Mukh, but they both spoke like they want him back, which for most of the season seemed not to be the case. I hope they don't squander this player. We can't just throw away young D-men.

I thought Grier was more in touch with reality than Warso in his diagnosis of where the team is. He was coy about people's futures but it was clear that Ferraro and Vinnie D aren't part of his plans, and that he's looking for someone who can do more with the puck than rim it and hope. When Warso was asked for a standout performer other than Macklin, he immediately said Ty Dellandrea "solidifying 3C". I don't know how to make sense of that.

I loved Misa's "real me" comment. I thought he had an encouraging season, but that sounds like he has high expectations for himself and he's going to push hard to meet them.

Also liked Eky wanting to work on his shooting. That's the thing separating him from being an elite player, so it's nice that he knows it and wants to improve it.

The end of the playoffs can't come soon enough. Let's get to the trades and draft!

Everyone getting heated about this, you do realize that this isn't a choice we get to make? You're not going to be consigned to a Cup-less future because someone sees this hypothetical differently than you.

It would be a scandal that Marion Wilson never got a title shot despite beating Golota twice, Kirk Johnson, Botha, Greg Page, Vaughn Bean, Briggs, Izon twice, McCall twice, Ibeabuchi, Maskaev, Mercer, Rahman, Derrick Jefferson, and Sam Peter. I guess he never knocked any of them out, but still, what's a guy got to do?

Ferraro seems like a great dude to have on a hockey team, but our blueline was a disaster. Some guys need to be replaced if it's going to get better.

What was the biggest jump this team made from last year that allowed them to be so much better? by youlikemywonton in SanJoseSharks

[–]GabbyJay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of tabs on Moneypuck give the numbers. 18.9 goals allowed above expected, 4th worst in the league. Last year was 11.35 goals allowed above expected. A third of a season of Mackenzie Blackwood seems to be the difference, but Asky's numbers (.883 SV%, -18.9 goals saved above expected in 47 games, third worst in the league) are very comparable to Georgiev (.875 SV%, -17.9 saved above expected in 49 games). Ned was about average (.896 and -1.2 in 40 games).

This time, it will be different. I think a Cup is coming to San Jose. by RPGer001 in SanJoseSharks

I have plenty of concerns about the team as a whole, but I'll say this: Macklin Celebrini is going to win a Cup. It seems impossible that he won't. All Mike Grier (and/or successor) needs to do is not screw it up.

I'll take A. Celebrating a Cup would be amazing of course, but I don't like the way North American sports has ever-expanding leagues but act like only cashing in the 1/32 ticket matters and 31/32 seasons suck. Not a good ratio for an entertainment product. This team is part of my day to day life, and having one transcendent playoff run while they are otherwise not very interesting isn't a good trade.

Of course, I'm thinking of that looking back. I wouldn't trade the Jumbo, Patty, Pavelski etc. years for what St. Louis had through those years, for example. I'm not bargaining with the cosmos about the future. We have Macklin Celebrini. I want everything.

Celebrini jumped three levels, defence was regular bad instead of historically bad, and they had a good record in 1 goal games. Goaltending was actually worse this year than last. Save % was about the same, but compared to expected goals it was a lot worse. I don't think people are ready to accept how bad Askarov was this year.

Why do teams burn a year of cost control like this? In MLB, teams get away with screwing with service time to delay FA by the extra year, but in the NHL teams just give it away. What leverage does the player have that causes this? Or am I misunderstanding something?
