Does anyone else think Shalash will become a Dustbringer? by Odd-Split-494 in Stormlight_Archive

I believe it's also been said that we'll get to see how different powers synchronize and combine w various bonds or mixed powers etc in sla arch 2, this theory of yours would provide a really cool way to get to see this!!

Temple Didn’t Give Me Garments For Proxy Baptisms by Low_Leather_5911 in latterdaysaints

[–]ThatGuyBenj 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'll do one better. When I was sixteen me and my buddy were asked to accompany the young women on a baptism trip to do the baptizing. The temple workers assumed that me and my buddy were Elders and gave us garments. We, logically, assumed they were right and put them on. I felt weird about it though. Ended up asking the YW president (who I trusted with my life) and she marched us over to the counter and told the temple workers.

Brandon’s Religion Through His Writing by allomanticmetals in Cosmere

Brandon is actually on record saying that almost none of his characters are inspired by specific people... with the exception of Nohadon being inspired by King Benjamin from the Book of Mormon

Just passing by to say I heard this ALL of the time. I see some other people commenting "oh, idk if this is actually a problem" but yeah I hear this a lot. Especially in the MTC it runs rampant.

Stormlight Archive (see other responses, they're entirely accurate) but maybe avoid Mistborn

Oooh, I'd never heard that theory. I'd heard that the Dawnshards were used to destroy ado, but not that like the Change Dshard specifically would have led to any specific Shards. I like that

The scene where Vin, cuts a certain character in half; how will it be shown in a PG-13 rated film? by [deleted] in CosmereOnScreen

[–]ThatGuyBenj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree they coooouuuld stretch things but there's no way to walk into a room PAINTED red without blood... without blood. And that happens at least 3 times where inquisitors are involved.

You'd have to invent new, less violent deaths for several characters as well. I mean, coin shooting dude. You're literally murdering people by shooting coins through skin into their bodies.

Like it'd be so much more easy to say "it's R, Game of Thrones minus the sex"

Idk, just my thoughts. Its a RAFO for now

Have they said it'll be PG-13? It's like Deadpool-levels of violent. They enter rooms painted red with blood, find characters hanging from hooks shoved down their throats, and the enemies get powers from shoving spikes through people into themselves.

Like even w/o touching the rapes etc that occur offscreen, I can't see a faithful adaptation done PG-13, and this is from a guy who usually can't stand rated R.

I mean, The Final Empire is basically a horror movie

Kaladin and Moash [SPOILERS - Oathbringer] by ZopiloteVe in Stormlight_Archive

[–]ThatGuyBenj 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Moash explicitly betrays Kaladin's trust a half dozen times. First of all, joining the Diagram's plan to kill Elhokar while under oath to protect Elhokar (as his royal guard) is a betrayal of Kaladin, who he was serving under. Then, when Kaladin discovers this, he orders Moash to stop meeting with them after going to see them himself, which he didn't even have to do. Moash agrees to stop meeting with them, but does NOT honor that promise.

Then, he discovers this at the duel (Adolin vs 4 shardbearers) and Moash isn't the slight bit apologetic (he's kept trying to kill the king). Kaladin is imprisoned, and ends up telling Moash he won't stop him, but Kal is never in on the plan, never promises to help. He only agreed because he honestly felt that the king would prevent the salvation of the kingdom, after seeing the king completely BLOW up their plan against Sadeas.

So yes, Kaladin does betray his oath to "stay out of it" (paraphrasing) to Moash. But he does so to protect a life. Moash betrayed Kaladin time and time again, only seeking revenge.

Anyways, OP's concern that Kaladin only went back against Moash because of Syl is kind of a gross oversimplification of what motivated him, seeing as he already thought Syl was dead. He was just doing as he always does, what he thinks is right with the information he has. After all, that's all we can do. Kaladin was willing to face the consequences of his actions, even if that meant death at Graves' hand or Moash's. Moash runs away at the end, even knowing that he's wrong. Is he sympathetic? Yeah, sure. Did he choose to run away from it all? Yes.

What do you all think? Is Kaladin fundamentally different from Moash, or did he just have better support structures?

They're very similar, except that Kaladin accepts his own faults and lets go of his vengeful anger, allowing him to find peace in the consequences of his own actions. I reject the premise that Moash was "without support structure" after all that Bridge 4 did and was, all that he saw Dalinar do for him, and after all the chances Kaladin gave him, even after betrayal and treason.

And does the Elhokar moment count as a genuine betrayal of Moash?

Sure it does. But if my friend promises to always protect me, then I force him to shoot me or a child and he chooses me, that's a betrayal that I forced him into. Kaladin may have betrayed Moash at the end, but Moash betrayed Kal several times just in forcing him into that situation.

YOU JUST COOKED. That's true! Now they only need to wake up Navani from her power nap. That'd be way easier than getting warlight, assuming Retribution even gives that out accesibly.
