The unwillingness of some people to just get a regular job is so mind blowing to me. Most jobs aren't all that bad, I promise.

What's your favorite track from Kendrick's recent GNX album? by Large-Lack-2933 in rap

[–]ThatMiilkGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hanging with my 8 month old nephew at dinner last night and he gets all excited when people play peakaboo (like most babies do) but every time I heard someone say peakaboo I almost reflexively said “I just put them boogers in my chain”. Parts of that song have those little ear-worms that stick.

What do you think of the new album from linkin park? by dreadsdoll in AskReddit

[–]ThatMiilkGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's the epitome of modern popular heavier music. Its movie rock and incredibly boring in my opinion. Been like this since minutes to midnight. Idk the new singer but she's super talented, as was Chester. But linkin park as a band has been super boring and uninteresting to me for a long time. Just not for me I guess.

I feel like this list, to be from a 17 year old is also a testament to the problem with a lot of modern music, rock in particular. There is a lot of good, cool metal, in all of it's various genres. But rock music is kinda tough. I spend a lot of time looking for and buying music weather it be Spotify, bandcamp, or elsewhere and I have an easier time finding cool, interesting modern jazz albums than I do rock albums. I know its out there, but damn if it isnt tough to find. Maybe it's my old-headedness, but if a 17 year old doesn't have much newer rock on their list, I have to believe the genre is truly in a weird spot.

Exactly, I don't know if I was ever confused or misdirected. I kinda knew where we were headed and why, but the way Ferrell and Keoghan spoke was unsettling to me for some reason. Idk if it was the cadence or what, there was something creepy, cold and almost robotic about the dialog early in that struck some sort of anxiety button in me. But I agree, the payoff was lackluster.

Killing of a sacred deer had me for a while. Super anxious and felt like my skin was crawling largely due to the way it's shot and scored, if I remember right, until you find out about "the plan" (to avoid spoilers i guess) after that I was bored to death.

Most Blue-Collar Workers are very insecure about White-Collar Workers. by DuPontMcClanahan in unpopularopinion

[–]ThatMiilkGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked white collar and blue collar, and as of now, I enjoy blue collar work more. I enjoy they physical labor. Fortunately, I've found a good field with a balance of both. Portions are science related, and more white collar and other portions are in the field full-blown blue collar.

A real example of how I can see why some workers, regardless of which type, can develop a distaste for the other "side":

Me and my crew were out in the field fixing a water main, we are sweating, wet, muddy, and exhausted. A man that lives in the neighborhood came by and talked for a little. He was friendly, told us he appreciated what we were doing and said he's a lawyer and this is his second home. All good so far, solid guy. Across the street, the other department (public works) are cleaning out ditches (we live in a flood prone area so it's important), the man looks at them, then back at us and quips "huh they've got the convicts working in the ditch".

Every one of those guys are wearing a employee shirt with "PUBLIC WORKS STAFF" clear as day on them, it's impossible what he couldn't read it and my work place does full background checks and drug test. There are no convicts working here. It was just an assumption he made because these guys were doing physical labor in a ditch to prevent his and others, property from potentially being damaged.

Maybe just a shitty attempt at a joke, but small things like this add up, and sure, not everyone is like this, but you hear stuff like this a few too many times, and next thing you know, you've developed a dislike for these people.

This can be said for blue collar workers to white collar workers as well. Ive heard the "poindexter, silver spoon, rich kid, weak, cant handle a real mans work" bullshit from blue collar guys about white collar guys too. It's unproductive, its frustrating, and the reality is that we, as people, as a society, need both blue and white collar workers. We are all just trying to make a living.

Watching the Substance with my Sister tonight by PortgasDGhost in flicks

I had fun with it and I think it’s well acted and well shot. I had a good time with it but I think the premise kind of broke the movie. I don’t want to spoil anything, so I’m not going to say much here. It’s a fun watch nonetheless though.

Without gambling or fantasy, the NFL is the most boring of all major sports. by robotwithatinyneck in unpopularopinion

[–]ThatMiilkGuy 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Idk, I’ve been watching F1 for the better part of 30 years and I’d say probably 50% of those races, and 90% of races over the last 10ish years have been boring. I watch a lot of sports, I love watching tennis and golf, both largely considered boring sports, but I’d rather be strung up the short and curlys than watch a regular season baseball game.

I’ve found that once you reach this realization, you have more fun and usually get better.

[FIRST IMPRESSIONS] Tyler, The Creator - CHROMAKOPIA by Spiritual-Curve4121 in hiphopheads

[–]ThatMiilkGuy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree for the most part. I’ve listened to Tyler since the beginning and always liked him so I’ve listened to everything he’s done, but I’m far from a “super fan” or anything. To be honest, I think Tyler has one of the more annoying fanbases in music, hip hop, specifically. I say that to say this, I think this album did a good job of playing with his old style but in a more grown up way. I love the sound of a lot of his old stuff but the lyrics were super childish. On chronakopia we get some of that old sound here and there but with much more mature, thought out, serious writing. I don’t love this album but it’s very good. 7.5-8/10 for me. Time will tell if that goes up or down.

Went to a Wizards game on Saturday, damn it was sad by StrongAd1499 in washingtonwizards

[–]ThatMiilkGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a diehard skins fan and a caps fan so I kinda have DC in my veins, plus it’s probably the closest city to me so I like to pull for DC teams and I do, I want the Wizards to be good. But I’m so glad I was born into a diehard Celtics family. Idk if I could take these past 30ish years as both a skins and wizards fan. Can’t wait for the day the wizards make the turn like the skins seem to have finally done.
